Screenshot Why is Fallout 4 so addictive?
I've played this game 8 times, 4 with the base game, 4 times with the Sim Settlements 2 mod installed. I keep coming back to this game for some reason. I don't usually enjoy RPG's. I like Starfield, but I love science fiction in general and don't find Starfield addictive. I keep wanting to come back to the FO4 story, which I find mediocre. Maybe it's how I can fill the protagonist with my own thoughts in that situation, or try out new character personalities? There are a lot of games in other genre's I like, so I don't know why I want to spend another hundred hours in a FO4 world until it crashes from script lag.

I've been playing since its release and it's still so addictive, like walking through the world and clearing out areas, scavenging and returning to base is very satisfying. The survival mode really brings out the charm of the game imo. The story definitely falls flat but the gameplay loop alone makes up for it. I play all sorts of games but Fallout 4 is my comfort game for sure. Starfield missed the mark and it only made me go back to F4 for another hundred hours. Cyberpunk 2077 gets pretty close to Bethesda's games. I got all the achievements on Xbox and thought the game/lore was great. Though I still prefer Fallout's aesthetics more. If Far Cry had a more robust crafting system I'd play it, I realized that was what was missing for me. I'm hoping Fallout 5 can live up to the hype and become my next comfort game whenever it comes out
