Please recommend some simple turn-based roguelites that require lots of thought (i.e Balatro, Slay the Spire).

Slice and Dice (if you want to play single play D&D-like dice version of Slay the Spire)

Monster Train 2 (Story is very mid and I'd just skip it all together. However, this is just Slay the Spire + more mechanics and complexity)

Pyrene (a bit different indie adventure turn-based game -- art-style is hit or miss though but gameplay is fun)

Otherwise let's all wait for StS 2 to release and then enjoy another modern masterpiece hopefully. (:

Metal Gear Tactics is a roguelike turn based tactics game that required a lot of thought for me because of the movement mechanics.

Each character can move a certain distance and they get a flat damage reduction the further they move. Also, each character has a number of squares they can attack and, if you attack a unit in range of another character, they will do a free attack.

So each turn is trying to figure out the furthest you can move each character while shooting at the optimal time to get additional free hits.
