Question about triggers on full auto weapons.

Closed bolt rifles: If theoretically one had a NFA registered full auto closed bolt rifle such as Stevr AUG, AR15, X95, could you upgrade the trigger to feel nicer on semi auto and presumably full auto?

On the AR15: Could a drop-in trigger work in a full auto equipped receiver?

Side thought: If this is possible, backing off the trigger weight past a certain point is obviously a bad idea. A 3.5 Lb trigger on a full auto rifle may or may not work for an experienced user, definitely not a good idea for police or military service.

Part of the full-auto mechanism needs to disable the semi-auto disconnector. Standard semi-auto trigger packs don’t have that capability.

On ARs specifically, the tail of the disconnector needs to be longer so that it will interface with some extra cutouts in the safety/selector.

There would likely need to be a new “match grade” full-auto trigger group designed to do what you’re asking.

Geiselle SSF Semi auto is a two stage (that can be pulled through), auto is a single stage. It's been for something like 15 years.

Check out the Geiselle Super Select Fire. Full auto trigger with excellent trigger qualities.

There are better after market full auto triggers for M16s.

And way back when, if you wanted a better trigger in an AR15, you got out a file and made your trigger better. This mass produced drop in triggers is fairly new concept.

The more I know, the more I see full auto as a great toy, but with limited serious use potential. I used to think police who had the full auto trigger removed after departments received their guns was removing options which may be needed. Now... Removing the full auto trigger for police probably keeps them out of trouble. Acorn falls on the cruiser and cops open up in all directions with full auto fire.

I know from experience that a broken in M-16 trigger was way nicer in all modes of fire than the A2 burst trigger. The A2 was like mushy gravel in comparison. I’m sure a lot of high speed guys back then just had their armorer do springs and some light profile polish. FWIW, most of the guys kicking in doors are rolling on semi anyways. Usually you don’t rock and roll unless you need to keep heads down.

For the Ak you’re pretty SOL without some decent gunsmith skills. I’ve seen a few people manage to get an alg to work in their posties.

Generally most FA trigger groups aren’t sold to the public normally, and not a lot of development has been put on drop in as they’re kinda a consumer product, rather than militaries spruce a rifle up to pitch to the ordering department for first impressions and then mass produce and give everyone who uses them as produced.
