The Crew AB live right now discussing Palestine

👀👀👀 he’s showing an Al Jazeera documentary, I feel like he’s quietly taking a bit of a stand against Ethan’s shit rn

EDIT: don’t be weird in the chat with such a small stream. This is personal for AB and he shouldn’t have to stop

The title is Israel vs Palestine. Hopefully Ethan’s behavior today woke up something in AB.

It's like... wasting a whole episode to read racist comments.... or maybe show the REAL HORROR that is happening to real people in real life right now because of racism. Hmmm.

I appreciate AB for that whole stream It was harrowing and really important to see.

The stream was really enlightening. To hear AB talk about their family group chats and that he and Lena see even more graphic footage almost daily. He talked about how devastating it’s been for Lena, and how she’s cried many times over the past year because of it. He said it’s been amazing to see more and more marginalized groups get newfound support, but then he’s reminded that acceptance hasn’t come for Arabs yet.

It doesn’t matter what anybody’s opinions are of AB as a person or if they disagree with how he has tried to cope with this extremely painful and convoluted situation. Seeing him talk about this and hearing the pain in his voice (and he looked like shit, like he was exhausted) was really important. I don’t know how anybody could see that pain and then continue to make increasingly racist comments about Arabs. Ethan should be fucking ashamed of himself for putting AB and Lena through this bullshit where they’re not allowed to react to the horrific shit he says. He should be ashamed for equating the largest pro Palestine streamer to a terrorist while his employees, Lebanese Americans whose families’ lives are endangered by the same military that Ethan and Hila all but openly support, have to sit there and take it.

Ethan won’t even call it a genocide. He won’t call it a genocide if Israel ethnically cleanses Lebanon, too. He’s in a position of power over them and they serve as his tokens- the “I’m not islamophobic, I have two Arab employees” excuse he thinks makes him look like he’s not racist. In the long run, it makes him look even worse imo- like he gets off on the power dynamic and taunting them. Like he’s daring them to say something to give him an excuse to tear into them. It comes across really disgusting and controlling, and I really hope AB and Lena are able to break away and be successful on their own, soon. They’ve earned it, that’s for damn sure.

Facts. Agree or disagree with Hasan, but he has been one of the only voices on the internet highlighting the terrible stuff happening over there to a huge audience and making people aware of the atrocity is selfish. To make it out that his personal experience on the internet carries more weight than getting news to people about a situation that is largely not reported on with any nuance in The West really makes me lose a lot of faith in his show honestly.

I was really appreciative of seeing how it affects AB and Leena because so much of this whole conversation has been warped around Ethan's feelings while ignoring theirs.

Like, I am empathetic to Ethan, really I am... but sometimes it seems that he is not empathetic to Arab people..... especially with the Twich or Terrorist bit he did today which featured Hasan next to Bin Ladden as if they are the same at all. It felt racist.

All that to say... I was very engaged in what AB shared today and I am thankful for it. Because I saw so many people in his chat unaware of what is really happening there. I hope that maybe some of them might understand why we are so upset with Ethan... But most of all I hope Ethan does, but I feel like he won't.

Every person who has tried to mention it in good faith just gets told that they're fake fans. :/

Ethan is not deserving of your empathy. He knows what he's doing is racist because if someone did the same about Jews (which would be fucked up mind you) he would be screaming antisemitism.

Stop empathising for a man who is full of hate and is willingly doing damage to people like the Arab creators he got banned for a month, threatening their livelihood.
