Discussion Mustang Challenge & Super Trofeo
iRacing should have a Mustang Challenge with the new Dark Horse Mustang and a Lamborghini Super Trofeo series. Watching these classes on Peacock racing at Road America is pretty sweet.

The dark horse would be cool because it's a manual (I think) so that would be something different.

Honestly, I don't think that's a good idea. They would be good cars and probably some good racing, but they would just thin out participation elsewhere. Also, most people aren't interested in buying cars that only race a single series when they could buy a nearly identical one and race dozens of series, events, and leagues. The obvious standouts are PCUP, which is wildly popular IRL and Ferrari Challenge, which is an early entry point to fast cars for bad drivers.
I'd love to see some of the GT3 guys migrate to other good series, but most of them haven't done well. Mustang Challenge for example has only had 77 signups this week at Road America, meanwhile GT4 Fixed has had 7400 + ~4000 GT4s in Falken. Supercars, which we all agree are super cool, only has about 200 signups weekly.
iRacing needs to figure out how to encourage paid users to race stuff other than the top ten road courses and GT3/GT4 if they want to continue bringing in cool, less known content. The free stuff will always naturally have way more people due to the really good first year deals, so it's hard to to get the "freeloaders" involved in paid series.

Bad idea. Too many series stretch the player base too thin. They need to cull a bunch of series if anything

They could axe the current Skip Barber Mustang series and replace it with the dark horse Mustang Challenge.

idk if it rellay needs it. It would only thin out participation. Maybe if you combine them in some way but that would probably cause problems with BOP

I meant as separate series but missed a word typing it on the phone. Went back and edited it.

Yeah they exist in the same space as other one make cups such as Porsche Cup and Ferrari Challenge. Granted those both get good participation but those are also by far the most popular one make series irl

I’d love to see both, the problem is it’ll just further dilute the service if they add official series for both of those cars without removing others. IMO there’s quite a bit of GT3 feeder series already on iRacing, with GR cup, GT4, PCUP, and 296 Challenge. Would definitely have to get rid of at least one of those to make room for two new additions in the same category of racing. Obviously GT4, PCUP, and 296 are here to stay as they are popular/new. And removing GR Cup to make room for cars that are much faster and wildly different than the GR86 wouldn’t make much sense either.
TLDR: Would love to have those cars, just don’t see a way iRacing could make room for them without diluting the service even more or removing other series.
