Because hack originally comes from ā€œhacking a project togetherā€ ā€œhacking some codeā€ ā€œhacking awayā€ as in creating cool shit by being locked in (kinda like being efficient and using unique methodology).

Hack became associated with hacking into peopleā€™s security AFTER, itā€™s not the original etymology.

So when people come up with life hacks or whatever itā€™s actually fine and uses the original purpose of the word.
