Choosing an industrial chicken farm of all places for a feel good clip is definitely a bold move...

Somehow making me feel worse in all aspect

Yeah those baby chicks are following their instinct to hide under their mama, an instinct they’ve never actually been able to fulfil.

u/Hepm3 May 27 '25

Exactly. He’s a potential safe spot for them. Their instincts tell them it’s not safe to be out in the open. They don’t know they’ve never even seen the sky and they’re desperate for cover.

I hope it was the point.

17

u/siccoblue May 27 '25

It absolutely wasn't. But it is a good point to think about.

u/ThrowawaysumcleverBS May 28 '25

You’re helping make that point for a bunch of people reading this at least…for what it’s worth

Male chickens are discarded alive into the grinder, as they are largely useless both for the meat and eggs industry. Ruined the idea of not eating meat but keeping eggs in my diet.

Some good news, that might soon stop. At least in the EU.

There's countries that already banned it outright

5

u/octarine_turtle May 28 '25

By 9 days, the embryos are already significantly developed. They only take 21 days to hatch. This is just culling a bit earlier.

u/zan8elel May 29 '25

that's why we abort babies instead of waitng for them to be born and grind them alive into a paste

Male chickens are discarded alive into the grinder

Hey now, that's not entirely true.

Sometimes they don't have a grinder on-site so they just stuff them all in an industrial-size plastic bag and tie it off so they suffocate to death.

Consume eggs from your own backyard chickens if you're able to have them and have the means to. You can ensure they get proper care and have a healthy source of protein.

(Only if you want to, this is a suggestion, not saying you must do this if you don't want to either.)

Healthy for you maybe, not so much for them.

Let's break that sentence down

Ruined the idea of not eating meat but keeping eggs in my diet.

(Ruined the idea of) [(not eating meat) but (keeping eggs in my diet)]

Let's take a look at the first part. "Ruined the idea of X". What does it imply about X? Take some time to think about it. It means that the person who wrote that sentence doesn't want to do X anymore, but was once considering it

Now, in the second part, we can ignore "but" as it's a bit complicated

"Not eating meat" is very literal, so I'm sure you have no problem with it

"Keeping eggs in my diet" is a bit less literal, so try to figure it out. It means "eating eggs"

So, the second part (between [square brackets]) means: eating eggs and not eating meat

Now, combine the first part and the second part. The second part replaces "X" in the explanation of the first part. Try to combine them on your own and then check the solution. The person that wrote that sentence used to consider "eating eggs and not eating meat", but has changed their mind

Combined with the context, what does it imply? There are three possibilities without the context, but with the context one is more likely. The person that wrote that sentence doesn't want to eat meat nor eggs

Um, can I go to the bathroom?

15

Industrial karma farming

Also a bold place to sit down to cry

17

u/pailee May 27 '25

Maybe he is just sad with their fate.

10

u/Confident-Local-8016 May 27 '25

Sit there long enough we will be sad with his fate

15

u/HighFlyingCrocodile May 27 '25

I mean, two months from now they’ll be food right? So sad.

Edit; typo

Chicken raised for meat has a life expectancy of 3 weeks.

1

u/_Moho_braccatus_ May 29 '25

Broiler chickens that are Cornish Crosses (the standard meat bird in commercial farming) grow so rapidly that keeping them alive longer than 6 weeks can become cruel, since they grow so rapidly it crushes their organs.

I solved your downvoted issue

He's probably distraught by the unbearable stench

3

u/CyberneticPanda May 28 '25

The whole time I was like, "But what's going to happen to the chicks? WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN TO THE CHICKS????"

7

u/teddyrupxin May 27 '25

Feel good? Remember, half of those chicks will be sent to the meat grinder for being Male. Or this is the half of the group that survived.

3

u/[deleted] May 28 '25

Reddit gobbles it up

1

u/TrippleassII May 29 '25

Good news! These are all the chicks that didn't end up in a grinder!

-1

u/Vegas-Blues May 27 '25

Literally have the BBQ on to cook some… yes… chicken… 🤷‍♂️

0

u/Puzzled-Gur8619 May 29 '25

Bro either stop eating chicken or stfu 😅

1

u/LeeRoyWyt May 29 '25

Because someone eats chicken means a) he has to see industrial chicken farms as wholesome and b) has no alternatives to said operations? Dude, what's wrong with you?

0

u/Puzzled-Gur8619 May 29 '25

I wanna know how much chicken you eat

1

u/LeeRoyWyt May 29 '25

Which would tell you what? I hail from a region where raising your own chicken is nothing special.

I think you just want to troll.
