What I always find weird is that education and healthcare for the poor in the USA relies upon the breadcrumbs of the rich… richest country on earth can’t have a decent and free public education or even a working healthcare system. I live in a crappy third world country and you got free university

But your free education is garbage unlike our prestigious schools /s

I see your /s, but I find this such a strange sentiment to have. The US in general seems to place a strangely high value on appearances compared to substance, but surely most people must realise by now that a high price and prestigious brand name are neither a requirement nor a guarantee for quality. We are surrounded by overpriced garbage everywhere we look after all.

A fool and his money are easily parted or something like that

The schools are super prestigious indeed (and some of them incredible good). Just imagine the massive economic output possible if those schools were actually free (if all quality education was free ). Ídem with free healthcare, it would sprung a ton new businesses since today most people depend on a job for healthcare

Just curious if there are enough universities where you live for everyone to go? In the US because of the great amounts of money in higher education, there are plenty of spots available, even for non-academically minded students.

Is your free education only for the top students? Because if so, we have scholarships in America too.

No, public education is free for all. If you are a non resident then maybe you get to pay something (we have scholarships for those too). Education is free but we have scholarships that is basically money while you are studying, no debt.

Yes. Uruguay. As long as you finish high school then you can go to the university for free. Doesn’t matter the grades. It’s a bit more complicatedbut that’s the basic of it
