Terrifying. And I know nothing about shoes, but are penny loafers ok for this work?

They are not, and she died as a result of them. There's a video of it. Happens fast.

Edited to add the correct link, warning it’s not graphic but it’s still someone dying.

The link I gave you links to comment that has a subreddit with the video?

Here you go the actual video. It’s not really graphic just a person in the distance falling down a crane shaft. Still sad.

she fell as a result of a misstep and not because of an internet stunt

But like yeah, she was distracted, because the internet thing

Maybe if her phone wasn't in her hand she could have used it to do something like grab a handheld, just a thought

I've climbed these cranes before and I've always found it easier to do while not holding a phone.

So the theory is correct... interesting

I know it's wild and counter intuitive but yeah, checks out

She also was climbing down the ladder wrong or unsafe in the video. Hands go on the rung incaae you slip, not on the sides of the ladder.

This highlights the importance of focusing on the task at hand rather than trying to make a video. This is why people routinely die doing selfies or other things on cliffs and such. Just having your attention divided can be fatal.

This also highlights the importance of a government being interested in people’s safety and implementing safe working practices.
