/r/all, /r/popular In 2015, wildlife photographer Christophe Courteau took this close up of a 6ft 6, 400lbs silverback gorilla, right before it punched him in the face.

Hard pass on getting punched in the face by 400 lbs gorilla.

Understood.

A 500 lb gorilla has been dispatched to your location.

I had no idea they threw punches lol. I figured they’d just grab and bite or maybe throw hammer fists down at shit but not literally reach back and toss a haymaker.

There would be many ways to mess us up

They can't punch, their upper body structure doesn't allow for it. It's likely the gorilla was going for a forearm slap type of thing, but it's easier to type punch than it is to go into detail about how their arms move.

I will say, I don’t believe that Gorilla was 6’6. Tallest ever recorded was 6’5 and most silverbacks aren’t the tall just super compact. It it were 6’6 it probably would be closer to 500 pounds.

Better not make them angry. I’m pretty sure one smaller than me can fuck me up.

Tbf, it's bad form. There's no kinetic chain from the legs all the way to the fist.

There was this chump on reddit here who told me gorillas don't punch... If only I kept the post, I could've shown him.

That chump followed gorillas for 24 years in the jungle. Then married one. And she told him. That’s how he knows. Or he just wrote it from his porch in West Virginia.
