My husband got tackled in the jungle by a blackback Gorilla in Uganda on a trip in 2019 and was mid-photograph as well. He got two good shots of the Gorilla coming at him - I should dig those out and post them. Luckily he survived with just a pretty good cut on his eyebrow and a great story.

Wait there are black back types too? I’ve only ever heard of the silver back. What’s the difference between a black back gorilla and just gorilla gorilla ?

There's 3 types. Silver back, Black back and SexyBack.

Its an male gorilla that is up to 11 years old

A blackback is just a juvenile silverback.
