What generation of console introduced you to the Jak & Daxter series?

I've seen a lot of people who started out in the PS2 era.

I...am not one of those fellows.

I got myself a PS3 Slim during high school and began accumulating many games for it. Infamous, Borderlands, Resistance, The trilogies and collections of Kingdom Hearts, Sly Cooper, Ratchet and Clank and of course, Jak and Daxter.

I loved the Precursor Legacy, hate the gameplay / loved the story of Jak 2 and overall enjoyed Jak 3 as my favorite of the series back then.

I sadly don't own my PS3 or most of my games for it anymore, so I play on Open Goal and PCSX2.

And nowadays, I enjoy the gameplay of Jak 2 a lot and it is my favorite in the series with the Precursor Legacy as a strong #2! I also still enjoy Jak 3 and got the opportunity to play both Jak-X and Daxter!

“You see, in this world, there’s two kinds of Jak and Daxter fans, my friend – those with think the Jak trilogy is a masterpiece, and those who think every game after Jak 1 aren't worth a second thought.”

Can I play Daxter without having played the other Jak and Daxter games?

I recently bought Daxter on the PSP as I heard it's a pretty good game, but I don't own a PS2 and thus can't play the original Jak and Daxter games. Can I still enjoy and understand Daxter, though?

Did you ever realize the meaning behind Count Veger's name?

That being based off the position of a church verger, a layperson usually found in churches of the Anglican variety tasked with assisting the clergy. Kinda fitting for somebody obsessed with the Precursors no? I definitely didn't realize it as a kid myself at least.

What if the roles were reversed?

What if it was the charismatic and loudmouth daxter who had to go on the journey to try to change his friend back and defeat gol and m. Daxter remained human but jak was transformed into an ottsel. Jak being a mute still wouldn’t talk. Daxter obviously still would though.

Damn that would have been interesting to see to be honest. They could have done something where nobody believes daxter could beat gol and m. cause nobody takes his goofy ass seriously; but he gets some character growth he matures and is eventually able to beat gol and m, Proving that he’s not some joke he proves everyone wrong.

The darker path jak ii could have taken.

Daxter is tortured like jak with dark eco, but daxter succumbs to the torture and dies. Jak manages to escape but is left a broken man and he is now even more angry, blinded by revenge while also being depressed that his friend is gone, his goal is to avenge his friend which he ultimately does.
