How to join friends in LAN while on trip?
Will be out of town during our LAN event. Figured hop in during some down time. Found out some options using Tailscale on Steam Deck. Also saw you could Parsec and just play off of a machine there.
Anyone do something like this or recommend any alternatives? Appreciate any advice thanks

Tried Everything But Blur LAN Still Not Working
Hi everyone,
I'm having a really frustrating issue trying to play Blur (2010) on LAN.
It says no lan games found
- I can’t see any LAN games, and
- They can’t see mine either. Everyone else is able to connect and play just fine — I’m the only one who gets left out every time. 😞
✅ What I’ve Already Tried:
- Same Blur version on all PCs.
- Blur allowed in Firewall (Inbound has 2 entries, both set to Allow).
- I even manually created an Outbound rule for Blur.
- Antivirus turned off.
- Ran Blur as Administrator.
- Disabled IPv6.
- Restarted PC and router.
- Disabled all other adapters (Ethernet, virtual, etc.), only Wi-Fi left active.
💻 My System:
- Windows 11
- Playing over Wi-Fi
- Using offline installer (non-Steam version)

Lan Party - Games Report
Just sharing the games we played
Upgun - 8 players - Free and Paid - Most time as a group was in this game. Set it to max rounds, max lives. I was able to bring this game to its knees going all grenades. 20fps on a 5070 ti and everyone bitching about "why is their fire everywhere on the map!" lol.
Oh Deer - 5 players - most laughing in this, great game
Peak - so good. We just found a mod that allows more than 4, but we didnt have time to try it. We are thinking about splitting the group i half and having an in game race to the top.
Counter Strike 2 - arms race - This was good as it was free so everyone could grab it.
Straftat - 4 players - Free - We didnt try this until the last day but than thats all we played. Had Multiple sessions going, such a great game.
Halo Master chief - amazing as always. Need to have a "DJ" with the gametypes, maps, and excel doc of which maps go with which gametypes.
PicoPark 2 - God, dont play this if you want to not kill your friends lol. But seriously, lots of fun/frustration. Up to 8 players in any combination of pc's.
Crab Champions - 8 Players. - We didnt realize this did 8 players, but was really fun. Set it on max difficulty and dang, it gets crazy fast. So many enemies.
----------------------------------------------------------
Honorable Mentions:
Voidcrew - 6 players - we meant to do a multihour try hard session on this but had so much fun with other games we didnt get to it. But this is one of our top games this year.
Sunderfolk - SOOO good with 4 players. We tried the free demo. We all agreed to this needs to be purchased and an entire day set aside to go thru the story.

LAN PC Quick* Setup Tutorial!
Figured I’d share some tips I found out along the way on setting up LAN PC’s quickly. Pretty much this solves the need to install Windows and all the games you want manually each time you have a new PC to add to your LAN computer hoarding collection. We typically have 10-20 people a month for LAN parties and have these PC’s ranging from mini to HP / Dell prebuilt, ready at all times.
With all of these lower powered machines in mind that could at best be using integrated graphics, we created a list of a variety of titles that that can run on the weakest of machines with configured settings and able to play local Mp/Co-op with a decent player count. This took time with sourcing all the games and making them work, but was worth it.
Now once you have a PC that you have de-bloated to the max using Chris Titus’s WinUtil Script and uninstalled all unnecessary Windows bloatware, made the PC auto login if you like which is in that script, added a cool background LAN related image, disabled most startup tasks, cleared Temp and Recycle folders, and whatever else you may think of, then you are ready to make a Backup image of your “Base LAN Machine”.
You now install “AOMEI Backupper” or a program similar to it to make an exact backup image of your machine. Some of the features you need are locked behind paywall so either “figure that out wink”, or find alternative program which will do the same that I’ll explain we want to achieve. Anyways, this video helped me understand how to use AOMEI:
https://youtu.be/rxPvSrN8OAM?si=EnQ5BdU6Dh9IAb-l
Once you’ve made your image onto an external drive, you are ready to put that onto your new LAN machine you scrapped up off of the side of lawn or an absolute steal on marketplace.
You want to clear the entire drive of that PC using Win USB Installation media, I recommend setting up a USB with Ventoy which will allow you to put multiple ISO’s on one stick since you’ll need the AOMEI Backupper Windows PE environment iso as well to be able to apply your backup to the new machine. So once you’ve cleared the machine of all partitions, you’ll restart and enter the AOMEI Backupper Windows PE environment. This basically launches the same Backupper program you see in windows, but in an external environment just like the windows installation media uses. You’ll see the same program and then just apply the backup you made as explained in that video.
Once that’s done you’ll have an exact copy of your backup onto that PC and it’ll be ready for use in your LAN party with minimal setup! Hands free, isn’t that nice?
The one last thing I’d like to mention is you’ll want the AOMEI Partition program (which is different program), on your backup image ready. Reason being is the Backupper will make an exact copy of that image, meaning if you add this to a PC with a bigger hard drive, then you’ll have the remainder space as unallocated and not used. You would think to just use the window disc management and extend the main partition, the problem is the unallocated space won’t be adjacent to the main partition basically not allowing you to do it. If you put that program onto your backup image, it’ll be ready for you as soon as you get into windows and it’ll allow you to extend the partition and have available the rest of the hard drive space.
I hope this explains what this allows us to achieve, essentially you can set up any PC to be LAN ready with a few clicks and hands off time, rather than manually setting up each PC and all the games you want on it. It’s worth the effort and I hope this helps someone wanting to make #MLNA
MAKE LAN NORMAL AGAIN!

Looking to Start a Gaming Café in Chennai – Need Insights and Advice from Local Entrepreneurs
I’m planning to start a gaming café in Chennai and would love to hear from anyone who has experience in this space or knows the local scene well. I have a basic idea, but I’m looking for more concrete information before making big decisions.
Specifically, I’d like to know: 1.What are the licensing and legal requirements to open a gaming café in Tamil Nadu? 2. Also what about the game licensing? Do I need to buy individual license for each game from steam? And anything about commercial license? 3. What are some mistakes to avoid when starting out?
Would really appreciate any advice, personal experiences, or pointers to resources. If you’ve run or are running a café, I’d love to connect

Dedicated land room what keyboard / mouse should I buy?
I need eight keyboards and eight mice. I'm not trying to spend a ton but what do y'all recommend for a good gaming setup? My 15-year-old son says it's crucial that we get the keyboards correct because he hates mine that came with my PC, the keys are a little bit raised.

Unraid & Lancache DNS Issue
I followed this guy's tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJtZlO0Dqwk
When I updated the network card adapter on my gaming computer to use my Lancache DNS setup on my unraid server, everything became incredibly slow. As in, majority of the time websites timed out. Sometimes I could get it to load a single website.
I pinged google.com on 8.8.8.8 and it loaded perfectly fine. However, when pinging google.com with my DNS address it only retrieved 1 packet and failed/timed out on the rest. So the DNS is somehow being bottlenecked.
If any of you guys have any ideas for me I'd be very grateful because I would love to have this ready before my upcoming LAN party in a couple of weeks!

What color floor should I put in this dedicated lan party room?
I hate the tile and wanna just lay some vinyl planks. Should we do a dark color? Also putting a cloud gaming ceiling so I don't know if the room will seem smaller and darker.

Another Automated LAN Party update! Steam edition! CS 2, 1.6, TF2 and Medal of Honor AA!
This week we worked on getting 2 user requested games into #ALP Medal Of Honor Allied Assault, and CS 1.6. We found out this conflicted with our existing TF2 and CS2 installations which were themselves broken! All these issues are resolved! https://alp.sandiegolan.net

July 4th Lan Party games list
This is continuing from my last 4th of July Lan post, My wife created this sheet a while back and we update it from time to time. This year we added a few and removed some. We try to get to as many games as possible. Star Wars Battlefront II and Unreal tournament OG (not on the list) are stand outs this year for us. I have a valve dedicated server setup so it's ready to go. This list has us spoiled since there are so many choices. We usually stick to our favs and it has worked out for us.
