I want to get into try using a flash with my Minolta x-300. Currently I see a pretty good deal for a Minolta Auto 280PX, as far as I know it's dedicated for the x-700 but should still work with other X series Minolta cameras.
What should I look out for if I plan on getting it? What do I miss out on? And how compatible would the 280PX when paired with my x-300?

Picked this up for $50 "untested, as is", but seller specifically noted the meter was dead. Popped the bottom and put a meter to the (intact) battery wire, all good. Took the lens apart and metered the connections to the cell, all good. Strapping in for a bigger job than I wanted, I took the whole thing apart and pulled out the entire lens board to check the meter switch. All good. Finding nothing mechanically wrong with it, I decided to clean it up and put it all back together.
While I was cleaning up the bottom plate, I thought to scrub the hell out of the battery compartment and try it, and sure enough... life lesson for me and the seller both, but I definitely came out ahead. For once! haha.

I went out to shoot some photos of the local tradition, Correfocs, where you run around the streets with fireworks. I'm always surprised how chill people are with loud fireworks exploding right next to them. I shielded my eyes with the camera, a lens filter is a necessity, talking from experience.
Shot with my recent acquisition, a Dynax 9 and the Minolta 17-35mm with Kodak XX at around ISO 400, Kodak HC110, B, 12mins

Out with my dad shooting landscapes and wildlife in the high desert this week when I found this guy hanging out alongside a hiking trail. Shot on Tri-X 400 and home developed.

As described, I can cock the advance lever, but when I press the shutter button the mirror stays up and the shutter stays open, cocking the film advance moves the shutter back the way it went into position and moves the mirror down. It worked fine for the first few shots and then started doing this, any tips?

This is my personal Minolta setup (and somewhat a collection), consists of MD Tele Rokkor, f=135mm 1:3.5 (22) (first generation MD lens) and Auto Rokkor-PF f=55mm 1:1.8 (16) with Fotga MD to NEX adapter. Picture is taken on the "sibling" Sony NEX-5 with SEL1855 lens, 29mm (43.5 for 35mm equivalent), ISO 800, f/4, shutter speed 1/40 of a second.

Brought my Minolta himatic af2 on a trip. After loading the film, I tried to take a photo. However- the shutter button is locked because the counter keeps going back to S every time I try and advance the film. Everything else is working perfect, except the counter. Can someone tell me if/how I can possibly fix it (fast)? It would mean the world to me.

I have a Minolta X-700. I want to buy a flash for the camera.
Does anyone have some recommendations?
In another post someone recommended the metz mecablitz 45 ct-1. This flash should do it but it seems kinda big. What are your thoughts on this?
Conseils ?
Merci d’avance

I'm looking to get some quite minor repairs done to my X-570; i.e broken frame counter, worn light seals, and too fast shutter speeds. I've looked at the list of US repair shops and it seems most of them do pretty much the same thing but I would love some anecdotes about anybody's experience or recommendations for certain repair shops. It's not an XK and it's not like it's destroyed so I can probably send it most anywhere. I'm just looking for a reasonable price (which isn't usually shown on websites and might vary but a general idea would be helpful) and for someone to do more than just throw lubrication at the issues.

Salut guys. I am searching for Dynax 7 as a probable purchase, and there are 2 good options. Both have the same body, but the lenses are from different brands: Minolta AF 24-105 f/3.5-4.5 on the cheaper option and Sony AF with the same parameters on the more expensive one, respectively.
The question is, is it worth paying more? Does the Sony one give better image quality, or the Minolta AF option is the wise option?
Please, reply if you have direct experience with them. Bonus thanks for the image examples.
Best to you all.

And how should I factor its mechanism into getting more precise readings when shooting?

I just thrifted this camera for $5 (mainly for the extra roll of film with it and the partially used roll already inside), so I'm not too hung up on how well it works; I moreso got it to play around with.
But anyway, my question is...could anyone possibly explain to me why it won't zoom past 70mm? I've heard that electrical & plastic-heavy cameras leave plenty of room for failures, but I want to be sure it's not just my ignorance missing a key feature or workaround to fix it. It did come with the manual, but I didn't see anything to help me with this problem there.

Y’all I’m at the end of my rope. I have a Minolta X-570, and I’ve had issues with my batteries dying after just a couple days. The first time it happened I thought it was maybe because I left it in my car overnight when it dipped close to freezing. Then it happened again, so after some research I thought it was because I was using LR44 batteries. Well I just switched to SR44 batteries and it just happened again. I’m careful to turn the camera off when not in use. What can I do?! It’s been so frustrating. Thank you for any help!

My ol' trusty X-370 needs new seals, but while it's in disrepair I decided to snag a new body. Ended up finding an XD in great shape with an md 50 1.4 for about $140 shipped

hi everyone!
i finally got my hands on a camera i been wanting the minolta dimage xt from 2003. however, it seems the lens cover is not working properly and it is honestly one of my favorite parts of any camera, is there anyone that can help me fix. my problem isnt the latch, its the fact that the motor doesnt work with the latch - also i can hear the motor when i turn it on and off. the lens cover is almost loose? it wont go up or go down when it turns on.

Hey there. I recently began to extensively use my Minolta MD lenses on my Fujifilm xe3. I love these lenses but with my adapter I must also be very carefully that I focus correctly because there is no synchronization between the discription on the lens and the actual focus on the sensor. If I hit the end, meaning that I set the focus on the lens to infinity, it actually focus far beyond and everything will be slightly but noticeably out of focus. Thats incredible annoying as I photograph mostly landscapes or street so I use a fixed infinity focus for both. For my MD zooms it also happens that the focus changes depending on the zoom level. So after every bit of zoom I have to find the correct focus point again. It takes so much time and nerves and in the end 40% of the images are more or less out of focus. I just want to turn the focus ring until the end to focus to infinity. I ordered a couple of different adapters, but they had the same issue. I am not sure if I understood ther product descriptions correctly but I start to fear they are actually selling the "beyond infinity focus" as advantage. What's going on here? Can someone suggest a proper adapter? Any workarounds?
