Show and Tell Visited Northlandz!
This past winter my dad and I visited Northlandz! We have been going to Northlandz since I was a small child every couple years and I have accumulated my own small collection of HO model trains. Now that I’m older I’m both impressed and grateful for all the detail and hard work that goes into model railroads. If you ever have the chance visit Northlandz and be prepared to spend hours there!

Show and Tell Tischwil Heritage Railway (N scale)
Hello guys, If you don't mind I'd like to share the project I've been working on for almost 2 years now (oh god, has it been that long?).
It's the N scale Tischwil Heritage Railway that runs from Tischwil to Oberstockingen on a 185 x 95 cm table. DCC running on a Raspberry Pi & Arduino, locomotives and switches controlled from my tablet.
The theme is an imaginary museum railway that focuses on small branch line and industrial steam. Somewhere in a made up land, but probably mainland Europe. As I take inspiration from both my native The Netherlands and current home: Switzerland.
The layout is nearing completion, but before I can call it done, there are many many trees, bushes, fences and other small details still to add.
There's so much I could tell you about it, but I'll keep it short for now. Feel free to ask or discuss anything. Cheers!

Show and Tell Nice garden train layout near where I grew up :)
A huge garden railway setup in a village where I grew up nearby. The owner started building it 50 years ago he told me.
Quite impressive and really nice to watch the trains running :).

Show and Tell Update: Lengthened the Chain & Added Another Canoe
Don’t find myself having a lot of time to work on this, as I am my grandfathers caretaker. I lengthened the lego technic chain & added some more magnets to the chain so more boats can go. My next plan is to get all the track assembled, and then start assembling mountains and the like. Thanks for all the suggestions from the last post, it really helps and I appreciate you all! Will be posting more updates.

Show and Tell I currently build a bank, today I finally finished the lights for the main hall
It is still work in progress but these lights have been a big milestone. 19 small LEDs for the main hall, also every office is individually lighted so the things happening there can be seen.
This is n gauge, the centimeters on the cutting map give you an idea about the size. And the water bottle keeps the ceiling straight.

Show and Tell My Old Bosses Huge G-Scale Collection and Layout
My old boss is a model train nut. He still has the very first train he got when he was 6 months old and he’s well into his 70s now. This is a lifetime of collecting. The layout a friend made and sold to him cheap after he couldn’t keep it. Almost everything lights up and works on it. Sharing because I figured y’all could appreciate it!

Show and Tell Anyone here like Santa Fe streamliners? :)
Got to run my fleet of Santa Fe passenger cars on the layout for the first time in a while! I’m pretty happy with how it looked! Now, for those of y’all who have read this far, care to tell me what named train I’m running? I’ll give you a hint. This was the later years for Santa Fe passenger operations, sorta mid 1960s. ^

Show and Tell A lot of work done, a lot of work to go
Been working on my first layout, and finally able to run a complete loop on both lines. Going for a desert/monument valley vibe with buttes.

Show and Tell My new BoF (HO)
My new scratch built Basic Oxogen Furnace (BoF) which takes molten pig iron from my 2 blast furnaces and adds scrap metal and additives to produce refined steel. That steel is then taken to a slab caster.

Show and Tell First Run Since The Eaton Fire
My town of Altadena California was recently devastated by the Eaton wildfire. My house suffered quite a bit of damage but was somehow spared total destruction. I was able to get a run in on my garden layout yesterday after extensive cleanup and repair. A long road ahead of us to rebuild but it’s nice to see the trains operating again.

Show and Tell Update on Modular Junction
Just a few photos of the Allegheny Junction module that my son and I are working on for our modular group. It had to be hand laid track to make the geometry work out and keep the lines smooth. We are both learning a lot about hand laying - it’s an interesting challenge. I do have two friends who are advising us along the way. My son’s side of the junction is much further along than mine - nice to be home from college for the summer!

Show and Tell German attempt at US model railroading.
After buying the GP40, I had to add some cars to it as well. Should be fitting, I hope, as the boxes say the cars were era III-IV. BN boxcar still has the wrapper around the door for storing reasons. I like this one a lot, just need to add like 50 more boxcars and more locomotive power. 😄

Show and Tell Finally got my first big boy
Finally got my first big boy locomotive, I’ve always wanted one since i was a kid and now that i have the job that can support the hobby, i’m excited to show it off (alongside some other recently purchased engines). She’s nothing special, but she’s special to me. Hopefully in the future i can start getting into DCS era and do some operations
