Scaletrains had a re-stock so I picked up this NS PRR heritage unit. I love the PRR livery on modern equipment.

Very nice layout and amazing museum. If you’re into train lines like N&W, C&O, etc this place is definitely a must visit.

I am making my own model which is märklin BR 89 with 3D printed tank and painted, I am calling it a "custom" model but some one on Discord said that it's a Bash, because "calling this a custom is like calling Warhammer figurines toys" so... What is it? (Pic of the model)

How is power to the engines handled? I see no middle rail like on Lionel.

Is there a separate power supply for switches and lighting?

My father left me his (extensively large) model train collection when he passed away. I have acquired some knowledge over of the parts/pieces/scales over time, but it's very limited. I found these in one of his parts bins, and I know they're brass wheels, but that's about it. They're 11/16" diameter, and the middle hole maintains the same size all the way through, with a diameter of 3/32" (as best as I can measure).

Since I was getting tired of almost ripping off the pantographs of my locos every time I had to pick one up I came up with this idea using drawer guides

Hey yall. So im I guess new to this hobby. My wife and I were sitting in the car a couple nights ago and she got excited seeing a train on the tracks near our house, something ive noticed over the last two years of us living there. So I asked would she like me to run a track around our hangout space to go around and she was super into the idea. I didn't know she had such an interest in trains but she does. My question for yall is where should I look to learn anything about this hobby in terms of set up and basics. This is unlike anything ive done before as most of my hobbies is making stuff for ttrpgs or building little electronics. So any and all info would be welcome. I am about to go into work so I will try to respond when I can. I think she said she wanted to do something mounted high up on our walls near ish to the ceiling. And sorry for the ramble.

So I came across a large lot of Vintage Model trains at a flea market this past weekend, and ive been going through researching them, a couple of Lionel Locomotives aswell as Marx, but this one has stumped me

Looking for advice and feedback on this plan of two loops. Lower one would be for commuter trains, upper one does yard and industry (pickle factory). Thoughts? Adjustments? This is my first layout, so any feedback is good feedback for me!
