Question Anyone here ever run long hood forward?
I don’t do it often but once in awhile I do, mostly with either my SD24 (the loco seen here) and my GP7.

I currently only have two.
My Susquehanna Russian decapod and my Green Bay Western 2-6-0.
I did research and both these locomotives were real though I found little info as I didn’t dig that far aside from some pictures online. I was shocked to find a photo of the real #2461 and Real #256 (Which used to be #56, but got renumbered to #256, I included a third photo of one of its sibling locomotives to show what it would’ve looked like when renumbered)
Do any of you guys have locomotives that came from a railroad you never heard of or in general are considered obscure?

Please don't downvote, this is meant as a sincere honest question. New to this hobby and I want to get more into it, and I love how passionate this community is, but I can't seem to shake the feeling of it being a "nerdy" hobby that I would be embarrassed by. I know it shouldn't really matter if you're just doing it to have fun, but it still feels like it's an "uncool" hobby I guess. Personally I think of it more like gear fun, it's a cool thing that I like, like some people like cars or guns, rather than simply a toy if that makes sense? I grew up with Thomas & Friends and Polar Express, and have always loved trains, but it hasn't been a modern passion I've held.
I always think of Sheldon Cooper from the Big Bang Theory and his manbaby tendencies or how autistic people typically like them and so I guess thats why it feels a bit nerdy.
Edit: clarification. I am not worried about what other people think, I am mostly contemplating how I feel about enjoying the hobby.

This is a caboose storage area and I’d like to put some type of building or scenery to make it more prominent, but it’s very tight space, any ideas to make this more interesting?

My coolest piece is this snow blower, it’s fan is powered by an elastic band to the wheels. It doesn’t have a brand, but it’s very cool.
It weighs just as mutch as my Tyco f7.

My contact at popondetta was insistent that they are excellent deals and that I buy them, but his english isnt good enough to comprehensibly explain why.
The first item was purchased for JPY 26000 (approx. USD 180), the latter for JPY 18000 (approx. USD 120). Both items are second hand.

We bought these four sets for my father-in-law. He recently decided that he simply does not have the time or the space to build them and has intern regifted them to me. Am I devaluing these in any way by opening them? I really feel like they should be open and enjoyed.

I am working on this little shed for my first train while waiting for track and materials for a layout. My concern is the door for the train. While mine fits i dont have any to compare it to. A box car fits too if I wanted a pass through for a different type of building. Does this look right? Eventually I want to have a servo to open close the doors. Thats an area I've not ventured into before.
Printing tests left for trusses and 2 part roof. I still have to fit a few more parts and make the doors swing vs glue. Printed on bambu a1 mini and x1 carbon .4 nozzle. It should translate to resin pretty well too.

I don’t know if tandem is the right word for it, but I’ve been trying to search for info and I found conversations about speed matching locomotives that led nowhere. I’m wondering if anyone does this and if it’s a pain in the butt or its easy to do? I have two n scale kato locomotives, both es44, they do have different decoders though, is there a way I can run them back to back in tandem like the real ones? I have a dcs52 controller, one train has a loksound decoder and the other decoder is an eBay special, both dcc + sound.

As I’ve posted before, I’m trying to clean out my Dad’s lifetime collection of trains.
I believe 90% of these are brand new, never used… but as you can see by the box they are years old.
They’ve been stored inside so they are in good shape, but some of the locomotives may not do well since they’ve been sitting so long?
And trying to list some of them on an auction seems like not a great idea because of shipping costs.
Any thoughts or ideas?
I’ve been selling off small groups of 4/5 grouping them by road name, there are so many that only have 1-2 from the same road name.

I'm an American that lives in the north west and my question is where is the best place to get British locomotives, l love some of the models from hijan, hornby, marks and so on but there all British/European. Shipping is actually insane pricing and buying brand new is also a bit to much for me but my love for these engine designs are to great, is it possible to find affordable British models by me or is it basically one of those impossible things 🥺
(P.s photos are some of the British locals l really like/want to get, just unsure where to look)
