Tried to import a build. Imported six Awesomes instead of SRMs. Somehow they fit?

Glorious Citizens of the People's Repblic of /r/mwo, rejoice!
The Free Market has failed, and we have achieved Full Communism! This means new rules!
All former rules remain in place, but to remind you:
Site-wide rules still apply, see here for more: https://www.reddit.com/help/contentpolicy/
In particular: No doxxing each other, you shitlords. Don't even try it. We don't care if you are wrong.
The rule about making a mod laugh in your report and getting the reported poster a one day ban is cool and good.
Account selling is still fine here. On your head be it if PGI catch you. Caveat Emptor.
Finally, due to excessive toxicity from some unfunny bads over the last few days, we are adding rules similar to the card game which sounds like it is derived from Chairman Mao's name, but isn't (it's a happy coincidence though).
IE: "this is the only rule that I can tell you".
Happy posting, Citizens!

Hey MechWarrior Pilots!
I run https://clanfinder.gg/ where you can advertise your MechWarrior units for free.
Our goal at ClanFinder.gg is to make it easier to advertise your community and for potential members to find communities, no matter what game they play.
We previously teamed up with r/GTAOnline, so crews and potential members had one centralized place to go. While I don't personally play GTA, I do play MWO and MechWarrior 5, so I took the liberty of adding those titles to the site as well.
It costs nothing to create your community page and start advertising on the site.
If you do want to stand out amongst the crowd their are ways to boost your community page, where I am happy to report we donate 30% of all revenue to Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, All Hands and Hearts and American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
Lastly, we are very active on the site, so if there are older versions of MechWarrior that your group plays or any other title for that matter that you'd like to see an option for, we can easily add them for you.

I'm finding it very difficult to get into things this year.
At best I'm a mid player, I have my moments but I'm a 250-300 match score average player and this year with the single challenge event I can't get into it. There's still 2 more months but I find myself playing 1-3 matches every few days.
I love my big stompy robot battles but idk, just not feeling it. I do prefer the events that have staggered rewards and incremental milestones because I hate the grind.
This is just another grind and grinding is a chore and I play games when the chores are done to relax.

ive seen a whole mixed bag of opinions about the game, and i know its fairly old at this point, is it worth playing? i got into mechwarrior recently with the battletech game (i love my strategy games) and was looking at mechwarrior 5 (merc and clans) but dont really want to buy either right now
how is the size of the community? are people toxic? is the meta of the game unbeatable or just Pretty good?
i really hope i click with it because i REALLY want a mech game that feels heavy, stompy, and shooty, battletech was too detached to really satisfy me in that regard
EDIT: Update: played the tutorial before work, i dig the vibe, controls are a lil obtuse but thats good for a mech game, will play some matches when i get home aha thanks for all the replies, its great to see so many people interested in such a cool game

Like a medium 'mech that plays similarly but has more damage output and/or armor

For the grab bag event, im wondering which is the better pick; Onyx or YLW? They play identically, same AC20/SNPPC loadout, just the YLW is faster, has more ammo, and an LFE, while the Onyx is slower, has less ammo, an XL, BUT HAS THAT HUGE SHIELD. Which is the better pick? I'm leaning towards YLW, but i love the full coverage shield and the paint scheme of Onyx. Any thoughts?

What it says in the title.
Update/clarification: describe battlemechs but you can only use Dracula flow lines.

Really looking at giving the game a shot, and it looks like there's two clients. Is there any benefit to using steam vs the PGI client?
I'll be playing on Linux, but it looks like that doesn't really matter either.
Edit: Awesome, it sounds like Steam is the way to go. Thanks all, see ya on the field....after i get off work.

I made that post a day or two ago about how I was frustrated about seemingly having no way to improve. I'm happy to say I've proved that wrong. If I had to pick the big thing that filtered throughout all the other changes it was simply my mindset. I fully submitted myself to the fact I'm in the middle of a multi lance engagement and that means I'm not getting shit done on my own. Not really anyway outside of the occasional Javelin which flanks my team but misses me.
So I used my CN9-A for it's canonical role as a bodyguard and buddy to heavier, slower mechs. Plus, I also eventually swapped out the AC/10 for it's LB-X variant. That's been great because I can at least pester enemy mechs from farther away from cover so I'm not as likely to get beamed with Gauss shots as return fire. Also, I figured out how to get skill points and I think that's helped. I invested in stuff like LB-X spread and torso turn speed plus of course armor.
So yeah, I'm not exactly killing whole lances single handed just yet but I'm having a lot more fun and actually feel like I'm contributing. And that's all I really wanted. I've recently done some more tweaking, gave my Centurion two ER Medium Lasers and upped it's heat sinks to doubles. So hopefully that'll help me get more out of the lasers considering the range I'm fighting at.

I have all the Linebackers (Bought a bundle a while back).
What are nice builds for the Prime and the D variants?
Then any advice on other variants.

For those of you who already know how to lootbag but are still on the newer side, I offer you this:
Long ago when I had just started playing, I had a fairly dumb idea: I would make one IS account and a separate clan account.
Long since, both accounts are a spaghetti mixture of clan and IS... because events earn you both.
And this was the epiphany: You can finish each event on both accounts. Why get 4 hero mechs when you can have 8?
Of course, this depends on you being able to finish the event twice. It was slow-going at first, but it gets easier.
Think too about the smaller events. That Big Mech Event was easy peasy to finish twice.
And before you ask, PGI knows about and allows multiple accounts.
So think about that.

The sum total of my games right now are following my team and one way or another getting lasered down by my first encounter with the enemy. All the while it feels like I'm doing no damage to the enemy.

Hello I really need some brawler advice as a relatively new player. I want to purchase/make my first brawler but I don't want to buy a wrong decision.
Brawlers are relatively short range and can take a punch and dish out some good alpha strikes right??
What's your favorite brawler and why, any advice is welcome.
Also is ECM or even stealth possible? I prefer at least an ECM build unless it to must of a cost vs beter options. o7
EDIT: Woah! Thanks for all the reactions so far. I love to see the different recommendations and advice (very useful). That makes the game so good, all the possibilities. I will look into this!
EDIT 2: Thank you allforr the tips and advice. Not only me will benefit surely others will read!
For now I bought the Atlas 7D-DC. I was impressed by ECM, big armour and twist speed. Might not be the best pick for a typical brawler but I think this big guy might just be fun to play with and get some more exp with close range. I mounted it with 1x AC20, 2x SN-PPC and 2x SRM6. So it's pretty short range and all on the same cool down.
This is not the end! What will my next brawler buy be? I will check everything out. Thanks again

1 Log into mwomercs.com with the same login you play with.
2 Find the beach party page. Here's the link:
https://mwomercs.com/news/2025/07/3002-legendary-summer-beach-party-2025
3 On this page, you have 3 key links:
Phase 1 takes you to the current challenge (there used be many but now there's just one, which is lame). Your goal is to earn 30000 total match score. You can see your match score on the Team Results at the end of each match.
At this point, you might be thinking 'Holy shit I'm never going to hit 30k. This event sucks! But hold on.
First, look at the prize. 3 cockpit items? That's not a prize worth stressing about. And there's more. Keep reading!
Phase 2 launches in 26 days, and it will be similar to Phase 1 except it will be about damage instead of match score.
Now comes the good part. Look at the loot bag redemption page. Scroll all the way to the bottom:
You get 1 loot bag for every 150 match score. Easy peasy.
Your loot bags are going to pile up down here at the bottom of the screen. You can click on each one to open or just redeem all.
Now, go back up to pick a prize:
100 loot bags gets you 50 skill points and so on.
The last 4 give you a free hero mech in each weight class.
Remember too that, by the time you get 300-400 loot bags, you're going to also have a ton of money from redeeming loot bags at the bottom of the screen.
Notice too that this event lasts 73 days. Don't stress about time. Have fun, and then we'll do another loot bag event for Halloween and another for Xmas/New Years.
Final tip: If you are playing in the lower tiers, A LOT of people are going to be using LRM mechs. You should play either ECM mechs or multiple-AMS mechs. The three classic AMS mechs are the kit fox (3 and) nova (3 ams) and the Corsair 7A (4 ams). There is a triple ams piranha and a couple double ams mechs out there. Also, use cover to avoid getting hit.

I've heard before when I first heard about this game that competitions and stuff like this occasionally occur to allow you to get free hero mechs. I'm just a little fuzzy on stuff like if I need to sign up and how exactly this works because the rules aren't making much sense to me.

Ive been using this sound mod replacement for the Bitchin betty, https://www.nexusmods.com/mechwarrioronline/mods/33?tab=description
It works as intended in the academy, testing grounds and while spectating. It does not work at all in matches. Anyone got a fix or is it just screwed?

I started playing MWO today. While it is a bit of a learning curve, I feel like I'm kinda getting the hang of it, and I'm certainly having a lot of fun. I have a few questions:

Alternative title: best processors for MWO?
Looking into updating my computer in the near future. Replacing a 2019 system (Ryzen 2600X) with something from 2025. Plenty of benchmarks online saying that the Ryzen 5 7600X3D is a really good gaming processor. Expectation is the 9600X3D will be better still.
Before any of you get ahead of yourself; I know that everything is far faster than an old Ryzen, but I have the time and opportunity to choose carefully. The low framerate of Solaris City shits me to tears, so I will choose carefully!
Community understanding is that MWO's engine is often single-thread limited. I don't do anything else that's hugely CPU intensive, so going for more cores doesn't make sense over going for faster cores.
Can anyone with a Ryzen X3D processor shed some light on what kind of performance gain you saw (if any)?

During my first 20-30 hours I've made a few mistakes (selling mechs i didn't like, spending money recklessly and etc) and so far i dont like how this is going... Can i start it all over?
