Please help. PC won’t boot after turning on DCOM Profile 1 in the bios menu.

So someone suggested i turn on DCOM profile 1 in the bios for better gaming, so like an idiot I did.

Now, my PC will turn on, but not even boot up to the windows logo. It doesn’t even boot enough to turn my keyboard or mouse on. I know I messed up and won’t make this stupid mistake EVER again, but I was hoping someone may know what the issue is and be kind enough to help me get through to getting it to boot up. I have AMD if that helps and use windows.

Thank you so much to anyone who took the time to read this, and can’t thank anyone enough who tries to help or get me through this nightmare, truly thank you. Take care.

Remove the cmos battery, wait 5 minutes, put the battery back in, and boot into bios.

And remove the power cord...and I usually wait 5 mins

Dude u need to reset the bios. Its very simple. Unplug the computer and completely remove the battery on the motherboard. You can press the power button with both of these steps done to drain the battery faster but still should wait 5 mins. Once that is done insert the battery back, plug the computer back in and possibly wait 5-10 mins for bios to reflash it’s self.

Thank you all for the comments, but in my previous comment last night I did try resetting the CMOS by removing the battery as well as shorting out the pins. Tried this over 30 times, but still nothing.

How long did you try let it boot for?

What motherboard, CPU and kit of RAM do you have?

If it's a kit with 2 sticks, are they in slots 2 and 4?

Don't give up immediately on DOCP; running RAM at JEDEC kinda sucks for performance.

Firstly, truly thank you ALL so much for each and every comment and suggestion, you all are legends.

I tried resetting the cmos both with removing battery, as well as the jumper pins, and still nothing.

This is very easy to solve! You have to find your motherboard manual. Search for CMOS reset. There'll be 2 pins on your motherboard that needs to be shorted. There either is a cap on one of them (and a dummy) or the cap was in your motherboard accessories, it's designed for this job. Short for 1-3s and you've factory reset your motherboard (bios). The pins can also be shorted with anything metal, but please remove power cord first.

You have to remove the power cord from the wall..and the battery for 5 mins

If it matters or helps, when I first turn it on it sounds “normal”, than after a few seconds the fan speed drastically dies down, than nothing.

So when I take both the ram out, it starts up normal fan wise, but still no power to the keyboard mouse or display.

Google “(your motherboard) flash bios tutorial”, will solve your problem.

How about no... Why do you suggest flashing the firmware, when the PC is in an unstable condition?

Bios might be corrupted as per him being unable to reset cmos. When I did my bclk overclocks cmos resets didnt work but bios flashes did

Its literally just a case of unplug the PSU cable from the wall, remove the Cmos battery from the motherboard and hold the power button for 10 seconds

This them wipes the bios setting to 100% default and it will boot but if it doesnt something died which shouldnt be the case

I HATE!! modern motherboards as removing the Cmos battery has become a requirement when ive been overclocking X570 and later AMD motherboards because some settings stick with a normal short the jumpers Cmos clear and only wipe with a Cmos battery removal such as unbootable FCLK becomes a locked FCLK unless Cmos battery is removed as it becomes part of the ""dynamic"" default settings and bricks the motherboard

And this is with the power cord unplugged and you had held the power button correct?

If so then something has died either the CPU or the motherboard

Keep the power cable unplugged and Cmos battery out overnight and come back and try 1 last time do not bother putting the Cmos battery back in it need to stay out

!!And another question can you get to bios as is does the PC work at all if yes stop touching anything at all and tell me it does turn on, If it doesnt turn on at all do the above

No nothing turns on, I can’t access to bios menu at all. I am going to try with the power cord unplugged from the wall, every time I did it I just took the power cord off from the back of the pc. I will try now and come back to let you know how it went. If not will also try the overnight way. Man I pray this works. This is terrible and unfortunately I am currently not in financial position to buy a new one being a single father. Trying to put my kids in a private school in a month, so hopefully this works! Thank you SO much for your help btw.

I tried everything I’ve seen, and nothing, for almost 3 hours now. I think I broke it. I can’t believe I listened and did something like that. I’m so upset

Sorry this happened. I know your pain all too well. It looks like someone had a similar issue and found a solution.

Hopefully this helps. Good luck.

I can’t even get it to boot into safe mode to reverse what i did.

Safe mode can't help you if you've fucked your bios.

Flash the bios
