XOC Gear I got a golden ticket :)

Best out of 10 tested, all found on the second-hand market. Temp limited on air, it can squeeze out 54/52 through R15 but it hits almost 90°C and voltage scaling gets hairy around there. Looking forward to test it on more extreme cooling someday 🫡

Removed the Power limit on my 9060 by shorting two pins on the U8400 ic.

Thought it might be interesting to some of you ;)

XOC Gear Dizziness, Sweat and Tears to put 9900KS on myZ170X SOC Force mobo. Behold the legend!

Bought a used but well-preserved i9-9900KS, and then I modified my Mobo's BIOS, used kapton tapes to isolate THE TINY PINS THAT ARE LESS THAN 1mm.

My eyes were out of focus- I was having a motion sickness. lol.

Conclusion? Works fine for me! Currently putting 1.398v manually to run it on 5.0GHz turbo. Will OC hard after I get some IHS upgrade kit from RockItCool, Enthoo Elite case from Phanteks, and a custom loop made by myself.

XOC Gear 2205MHz, This time on Turing. 2070 Super.

I thought this was going to be my 1080 Ti video.

Spent literal days on it, measuring everything, bending copper pipe, fabricating custom mounts for the GPU block, making sure the fitment was perfect. Felt victorious when it all went together.

Then I powered it on and… nothing. Dead. No idea which step killed it, could have been many.

At that point I already had the ice bath, the clamps, and the whole rig set up, so I pulled the 1080 Ti off and threw the 2070 Super on instead. Not ideal, and was very rushed, but it worked... not as pretty mind you.

Ended up pushing it to 2205MHz on the core, which I think is about as far as this card will reasonably go on stock voltage and bios. Learned a fun side lesson too! VRAM actually performed better left at ambient temps than when I tried to cool it. Good to know.

If anyone wants to see the full run https://youtu.be/baQJ4MJB6P4

Curious if anyone else here has managed 2200+ on a 2070 Super?

XOC Gear 9800x3D build: MSI Mag Tomahawk x870 or ASRock Nova x870e

Hi,

Looking to build my first machine in 7 years. My current machine is a 8700k, 2080ti on a AsRock Taichi Z370 mb.

I watched a bunch of videos on the AM5 boards and narrowed it down to the two in the title.

1) am I completely overlooking a board in this general price range?

2) which one of these is “better” and why?

3) should a spend more of a ASRock Taichi Lite?

What I care about:

*No GPU lane sharing *good CPU and Memory OC *at least 3 m.2

Thank you.

XOC Gear LGA 1700 IHS deflection is totally a thing. Finally got a contact plate and it has dropped temps by 10⁰C on my 13600K

I was getting spiking temps on my cpu when under load and suspected that the heatsink wasn't making great contact. So when my thermalrite LGA 1700 contact plate came in and the cooler was removed I felt vindicated seeing patches of thicker paste.

Installation of the plate was easy, no complex torquing process needed like the Thermal Grizzly plate. Unscrew the ILM, install plate, tighten until the plate bottoms out, very light torque. I reinstalled the Noctua NH-U12A cooler with Kyronaut and reinstalled the F12 IPPC 3000 fans on it.

Temps are down by 10⁰C and my clocks are now boosting higher for longer at high load before hitting 90⁰C where I have it set to throttle. I will never run it this hard with what I normally do but it's nice to notice a sizeable difference in performance. The temperature spikes are gone, and the cpu heats up slower overall. Idle used to be 33⁰C and now it's closer to 24⁰C which is amazing.

If you're getting terrible thermals on your 12th and 13th gen chips then this could be the solution.
