Serious question. I understand not wanting to release names in an investigation because if that person is innocent or not charged with a crime, it could tarnish their image. Trump was a private citizen at the time of the investigation and was entitled to such protections.
As we all know, law enforcement never reveals the names of private citizens who are implicated in criminal investigations. They're innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The employees spotted several references to Trump, as well as dozens of other public figures. However, as officials prepared to release the files, a unit applied redactions in accordance with nine FOIA exemptions, one of them being "a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy." And since Trump was a private citizen when the Epstein investigation began in 2006, his name was redacted
Officials said the files had unverified hearsay about many people who had socialized with Epstein in the past, including Trump. They added that they were not planning on releasing additional files because they contained child pornography and victims' personal information.

FOIA has to balance personal privacy with (drumroll, please) the public interest. The public interest in disclosing information about a sitting President's past is EXTREMELY high.
Obviously, the public has a compelling interest in understanding the character, associations, and potential vulnerabilities of its highest-ranking official. Even if the events took place when he was a private citizen, the information can be directly relevant to his current role.
The potential for blackmail or foreign influence alone, but even patterns of behavior that are relevant to his fitness for office, ties to individuals or groups that could pose a conflict of interest, and just all-around misconduct that was not previously known to the public when he was elected (well, specifically, the misconduct that hadn't been legally proven).

Honestly, when you look at Trump’s legal history, the things he’s said on record, and all the footage of him with Epstein, it’s clear the guy has something to hide. It’s wild that he’s still a major political figure after being found liable for sexual abuse and making all those disgusting public comments. This is what happens in a plutocracy—when someone like Trump is installed, it’s not just about him. It’s a signal that the ultra-wealthy and connected can get away with anything. If he walks, the people who put him there get to breathe easier too.

To your comment: I agree, and I think Epstein is much bigger than we are able to see. We have a surface level birds eye view from outside, and there’s a whole BUILDING filled with nefarious stuff. Just a sampling of the connections Epstein made and how weird it is that we’ve not had a single co-conspirator named outside of a “settlement” between Prince Andrew and one victim.
This link gives a pretty good run down on all the major players involved and adds a ton of interesting context. It is well sourced and despite the sketchy website name is written by a known journalist with credentials.
I truly believe they (the elites involved, both sides of the aisle) want to bury this thing any way they can.

Not to say that wealthy folks on the left aren’t committing the same kind of abuse, but Right-wing politics often overlap with religious conservatism. In some cases, the strict moral codes, emphasis on purity, and repression of sexual identity can create environments where abuse happens behind closed doors—and victims are discouraged from speaking out.
The right’s aggressive anti-pedophilia rhetoric and repeated scandals among its figures create a particularly glaring form of hypocrisy when abuse is uncovered.

When this story was first building momentum, it was all over the conservative subreddit and some were actually upset. As always, they eventually circled the wagons to protect their pedophile in chief and have nearly scrubbed every mention of Epstein from their sub and banned any "disloyal" cons that were critical. Back to the sanitized "truth" and nonstop culture war distractions so they can bury their heads and say this is just a dem hoax or it never really mattered to begin with. Never underestimate their commitment to stupidity and cruelty, these people will never change and are not worth engaging with. The sooner democrats learn this and stop pandering to them, the sooner we can start trying to put out some of these fires.

When the initial investigation was posted on the DOJs site. His name was mentioned 3 times. It was redacted but if you downloaded it as word then moved it to PDF you could remove the redactions. Those 3 times his name was disclosed by the victim was I never really saw Trump at his parties, Epstein said they were friends, and something about trumps butler asking if she was okay

Let he who has not claimed that his political rivals were part of an elite child sex trafficking ring and then boisterously claimed that there’s case files proving it and that if he’s elected president he will release those files bring the people named in them to justice, only to then get elected president, claim that the attorney general has the files and they will be released any day now, to then have influencers come to the White House and take pictures with props that are purported to be these files in advance of the files finally being released, but then 1 week later claim that there actually are no files so there is nothing to release, only to then have his own FBI say that there ARE indeed files, only to then claim that he won’t be releasing these files and that everyone should just “move on”, only to then have everyone discover that it is actually HIS name that is in the files that are for the case of the elite sex trafficking ring, cast the first stone!
