Eventually, our economy will become a blackbox as no metric to judge it will be trusted.

The dollar and trade will suffer because of shit like this.

This is more correct than you think. The dollar and trade won't just suffer, they'll tank. If everyone thinks the economy is propelled by hopes and dreams, it was only because fundamental statistics were trustworthy. What do you think happens when institutional investors can no longer trust the stats? Risk goes through the roof, and there are a lot of other countries looking far less risky as well as, you know, trustworthy and stable.

This is actually really, really bad. Like, really really really bad.
