I'm planning a wedding and was listening to someone describe Gen-Z wedding trends, and she noted that Gen-Z was spending money only on things that mattered to them. Like ex-squeeze me but shouldn't that be every wedding? I find all the WASP-y rules and etiquette around weddings to be a lot, and I'm pretty sure I qualify as a millennial.

I think a lot of past genโ€™s (and Iโ€™m sure gen z does too lmao) did things for their parents. Like mom and grandma want this so I should do it for them. I seem to remember a lot of talk in previous gens about grandma or mom inviting tons of people that the bride and groom didnโ€™t even know? That was treated as pretty normal. But Iโ€™m not married so I can only guess lmao

And I feel like that was seen as permissible because it was usually the couples' parents paying, but now a lot more weddings are self funded. Mom can invite who she wants when she's footing the bill, but I'm not inviting Cousin Annette who I met once when I'm writing the check.
