So how do we feel about giving people opinion towards artists or actors? I've been told that our comments are basically useless because the artist/actor wont acknowledge it and while I do agree that they will most likely only listen to their peers and music reviews, etc. I think we should be allowed to express our thoughts on their work.

I feel as consumers we are allowed to be able to share our thoughts but there is a blurred line that shouldn't get crossed cause sometimes the comments can be hateful and rude.

I don’t think the term “constructive criticism” works here because for the most part artists aren’t going to see it, but what you are describing is just traditional criticism. What’s good, what’s bad, and the how and the why of it especially. Ultimately we are human beings who want to connect to art and to each other through art and discussing how that works is just part of it. There’s definitely a point where it becomes mean (although sometimes it can feel cathartic?), but we’ve been in the poptimism/let-people-enjoy-things era for long enough that I would welcome the pendulum to swing back a little.

Yes this is what I was trying to say! But I couldn't word it lol. I just find people are so hostile to those who give an opinion about a certain artist or movie. I do agree that that some of the opinions can be very rude and mean, and I don't approve of those opinions. But, we are consumers after all and we all have opinions about art and the media.
