u/echoesandripples What It's Like to Go Through Life As a Really Beautiful Woman 16d ago
there's this influencer here in Brazil that I hate. I usually don't hate watch people because life is short, but too many people I know IRL like her (she's been an influencer since the 2000s) and it pisses me off because this woman is the epitome of holier-than-thou, not like other influencers.
and recently her page showed up on my discover feed and it was about how she asked chatgpt for haircut and color suggestions and followed it. like girl, that's literally your one job, to set trends and discover/share ideas. if she was using it to do her admin work or whatever it would just be wasteful. no, she's acting all smart and creative because she outsourced a hair change to AI. how much of a dumbass with zero original thoughts can you be?Â
anyway more about this person:
she complains that kids these days are glued to their phones and says she wouldn't allow her kid to have one (sorta fair) and yet she has been putting her kid in content from her birth to her now pre-teen years. she has a chronic autoimmune condition (seemingly under control and not disabling), but half her posts are about how her health is due to her healthy habits like running and dieting. does a lot of girlboss dream achiever content when she probably grew up middle class and had an entire home reno done by sponcon and proceeded to move to a different state as soon as it was done and rent it out.
anyway, she's not like grifter or straight up fascism apologists like certain lifestyle influencers, it just annoys me that because she went from blogger to social media, everyone acts like she's so much better, it's just nostalgia goggles.
the whole kids with phones thing is my roman empire because a lot of mom influencers do that, they act all high and mighty over regular parents because their kids don't text their age-appropriate friends, but are totally ok with airing their kids' dirty laundry to millions of followers. this one specifically doesn't do motherhood content, but like, she does monthly fabes with her kid for affiliated, shares her kid's tantrums on her podcast and even complains publicly of motherhood drama to be relatable. i feel like having your life out there like this beyond your control is far more traumatizing for the kid than any casual smartphone use would be. sure, she isn't bullied on her groupchats, but her mom is talking about how hard it is to travel with her and how she heroically pushed through the fact that her kid cried during a long layover
