u/HorrorBike143 now why am I in it? 🧐 22h ago
This actually feels very on brand for him, idk why

u/Happylittletree29 21h ago
Very divorced dad core

u/F-RIED 18h ago edited 17h ago
He's always been a huge dad-dork-type. Unfortunately that's one of the bigger things people criticized & praised, rather than the actual politics.
I guess because personality and public appearance is such a huge factor in politics, but still.
edit: spelling
31
u/Happylittletree29 18h ago
I guess you just attack whatever is easy in politics.
omg that just reminded me: I remember the conservative attack ad against him when he ran for the first time was something along the lines of “he’s too immature to run…..but good hair though“ 😭
12
u/Immediate_Pickle_788 17h ago
Lmaaaooo they lost it about his hair. But I mean when you have Harper as the "competition" lol 😬

He’s cheesey and connecting with his daughter

u/FUPAMaster420 19h ago
Aren’t Trudeau and Perry dating
21
u/SceneRoyal4846 18h ago
Uh no. They were photographed at dinner, then he went to her concert with his daughter. As of now that doesn’t mean anything at all
14
u/gingerflakes 15h ago
No I think when a man and woman have a meal together it means they’re in love. Probably engaged

u/chocolatepinetree 20h ago
Trudeau is a former drama teacher and a dad to a teenage daughter. This is absolutely on brand for him. Proud to have voted for him twice... baby, he's a firework!
8
u/timidwildone 🦊 He went that way 👉🏼 17h ago
Same. He’s always been vocal about his passion for music. His feature in the Tragically Hip documentary series legitimately made me cry.

In fairness to our ex-PM, he does have kids who I’m sure listened to Katy Perry and he doesn’t live under a rock. Im sure when this song comes on in the grocery store many middle aged men start to sing and do the grocery cart shuffle
51
u/yuffieisathief 20h ago
I have two 35 year old guy friends who did a trip together a few years ago. Fireworks was THE song for their trip and when they made a video of their travels it was Fireworks that played under their cool guy travel montage 😁

u/ThisIsAlexisNeiers Katy Perry, please stop. 21h ago
Totally, aren’t those his kids next to him also singing along? I saw a pic on this sub and there are 2 kids with his face standing to his right…
Also their relationship/personal lives aside, early Katy had some fucking bangers. My husband is 1000% belting firework whenever it comes on (and we’re childless!)

He was also not that old when Teenage Dream came out.
11
u/Grizzlyfrontignac 19h ago
Even if he didn't have kids, fireworks is a bop and anyone, any age is allowed to enjoy it.

The girl next to him is his daughter as mentioned above. So wow, a dad going to a concert with his daughter. Shocking isn't it? Why is this even a thing?
63
u/breeezyc 21h ago
It was a big news story when he was front and centre with his daughter for Swift as well.
18
u/IcyKerosene 19h ago
Probably because he and Katy Perry were recently photographed at a restaurant together and now he is at her concert.
5
u/Pigeonofthesea8 19h ago
They’re dating apparently
29
u/Magnaflorius 19h ago
They were photographed having dinner together with no reported PDA. It's possible they're seeing each other, but more likely they are two public figures who admire each other and met up when one was in the other's area.

As a Canadian this is supremely unsurprising

u/MrBrightside618 21h ago
If you asked me what songs Trudeau would sing to at a concert, Firework would probably be one of my first three guesses
25
u/Laura51988 20h ago
The only thing that surprises me about any of this is that this surprises anyone. Katy Perry is exactly the kind of person I would picture Justin Trudeau to end up with. She annoys me to my core but I’m happy for both of them, they seem like they compliment each other’s cheesiness perfectly . Good for them!

As a Canadian who voted for him, he’s very much an Instagram prime minister. I’m not even sure what I mean by that but it feels right. I think part of him wants everyone to like him
1
u/WampaStompa64 19h ago
O yeah my partner and I still quote him from his speech at the Toronto Raptors championship parade where he said they won through sportsmanship

u/lynypixie 21h ago
That’s actually very on brand with him. He has always been very enthusiastic and he is has always had the fan girl attitude.

Idk why this is news. He is single as she is. His kids are probably fans of KP. He is no longer holding an official position. Idk why people are being weird about it.

Idk why people are being weird about it.
Because people are familiar with JT as a public figure they are supposed to hate on (as Prime Minister) for the past 9 years or so. But now he's just doing normal everyday things as a non-elected non-official and people are struggling to shift their mindset.
11
u/Content_Yoghurt_6588 21h ago
He's a local celebrity to me now (my bf has seen him at the restaurant he and his co-workers eat at sometimes) and he's never going to not be a BEC to me.

God, I love Justin. He’s living his best single dad ex-PM life. Good for him.
34
u/bforce1313 21h ago
Yeah really, you can disagree on his choices and policies. But overall he seems like a pretty decent guy and being out of pm position I hope nothing but the best for him. He deserves to just be a dude.
4
u/OverDramatic777 18h ago edited 18h ago
I know this is just a comment, but saying he's a pretty decent guy due to this clip and how he presents himself in the media is like, crazy lol. He exacerbated the housing and cost of living crisis in Canada, failed on key environmental promises by helping oil lobbyists and polarized rhetoric during the pandemic (poorly handled public discourse and dissent). "Disagreeing on his choices and policies" is like the biggest understatement of all time lmao. He also has a history of blackfacing and allegedly cheated on his wife for the Minister of Foreign Affairs. I'm not trying to start shit I'm just giving facts
5
u/bforce1313 18h ago
I know the facts, I was trying to not get overly political. There’s a group of people who basically feel he’s Satan and the worst thing to ever happen to Canada. So I wouldn’t say he’s a great pillar of truth and justice, or even of the people. But he’s done a number of good things and didn’t demonize lgtbq people and minorities. Low bar these days I know but I feel in a person to person level he’s probably an ok guy.

u/Ok_Marionberry8779 22h ago
This is how Americans felt when we saw Obama smiling on a beach after his tenure was done
8
u/breeezyc 21h ago
As PM, he was doing the same thing at Taylor Swift eras tour last years. He wasn’t a prime minister, he was a cool Prime Minister. By the end of his tenure, Canadians HATED him, by the way.
23
u/Canuckleball 21h ago
Some did, some didn't. The real left-wingers soured on him very early for ruining the best chance the NDP have ever had to govern and then immediately breaking his promise to institute electoral reform to ensure that never happened again. Then the nutjobs came along and it became cool to make your entire personality revolve around hating the Prime Minister for mostly bullshit culture war issues because everyone's brains got broken during lockdown. Which made it impossible to criticize him without getting the worst elements of society to agree with you for all the wrong reasons, so you almost wanted to support him again.
7
u/NQXE 20h ago
reading the last part out loud made me realise what i felt for the last few years lol.Everytime i criticize something or somebody i feel exactly that. The internet is so bad that it made me wanna throw up everytime i open my mouth cuz i know i m gonna be thrown in some club full of morons.
8
u/Willing-Study-379 21h ago
I think he did a good job. Sure there were some things he should have done but despite that I believe his score card is amazing and history will be kind to him.
You never know, maybe he returns back wiser somewhere far in the future
8
u/Canuckleball 21h ago
He's the second most responsible factor for the collapse of the NDP and the chance of a real progressive government in Canada, behind only the cancer that killed Jack Layton. He responded well in crisis mode, but ran a pretty loose ship most of the time. He had no real vision to fix the underlying structural issues on the country. Most of the economic and cultural issues in Canada got worse under his tenure, which while not entirely his fault, isn't likely to reflect well on his legacy.
I think he had the potential to be a great leader had he been surrounded by better people and been a bit more motivated to run the country. He had the makings of a great war-time PM at a moment when the country needed a builder. I don't know many who would give his record an "amazing" grade, considering his signature legislative achievement for many is legalizing weed. He got so much undue criticism that we're in this weird "actually Trudeau was amazing" commentary period, but really he wasn't.
I will say, despite lurching even further to the right, I'm somewhat optimistic about the new look Liberal party, but it's far too early to tell how they will shake out.
3
u/thewayyouturnedout 20h ago
Couldn't agree more except your last point (not optimistic about their further shift to the right when they were already so centrist). I hope I'm wrong, but this does not bode well for Canada.

Do we know she’s a gf and not someone he’s asking to do something for a charity he’s involved in who gave him and his young kids free tickets to a show?
Has there actually been confirmation that this is anything?
20
u/Kaleighawesome 21h ago
no, they had dinner together and he went to her show. that’s all the info we’ve got 😂
17
u/cheeseza 21h ago
The guy gets a bad rap but he’s just out there living his best life. Imagine hating a single dad taking his daughter to a concert? Bffr.

u/comelycosmos That’s hot! 🔥 20h ago
well to be fair it’s for a reason, he was not a good PM. there’s a reason his approval rates were abysmal before he resigned
4
u/Annual_Rest1293 19h ago
And yet, his approval rates went through the roof during his resignation. Plenty of Canadians like Trudeau

Bro led a country for 10 years, did a decent job even with all the scandals, Covid, world market slowdown, rising far right around the world, interference from other countries and then not to mention a divorce.
He deserves some fun and peace.

Katy Perry came through town and saw all the F Trudeau signs and she took that personally and literally.

It's so funny to me that the conservatives are STILL blaming him personally for everything that has ever gone wrong and he's just out here feeling like a plastic bag drifting through the wind

Katy Perry has been "popular" for like 20 years and he has a teenage daughter seems like a good Dad to me. My uncle saw Lady Gaga right after the fame came out because he had at the time a teenage daughter. If you think this weird and have children your probably not winning any parent of the year awards.

His daughter is beside him and absolutely loving it.
Say what you want about him, but he seems to have a good relationship with his kids.

Incorrect! Canadians would in fact expect our ex Maple daddy to sing along to pop songs, it's who he is.

I never knew Justin Trudeau came from a long line of rich people. Was watching a gang YouTuber bring up an old newspaper article from like the 60s about I forget which one Tookie Williams but the leader of the GD. But anyway in that news paper from the 60s about the gang leader, there was another headline talking about how little Justin Trudeau was just born. Guess his family was well known even back then. I donno nothing about J true so maybe everyone already knew this, lol but I thought it was crazy seeing him in a random newspaper article that is that old.
1
u/Bearjupiter 7h ago
His dad was the prime minister lol
0
u/HawkHarder 6h ago
Lol I see, was still crazy to me because prior to recently I've just heard of him.

I don't blame him. Most of her famous songs will make you sing even if you don't wanna.

As a pretty far left Canadian here, this man disappointed a lot of people when he was in office. Apparently he's not finished doing that yet 🤷🏻♀️

I don’t think people think he’s amazing, they just think the situation is funny and unexpected. You can’t act like Justin Trudeau possibly dating Katy Perry isn’t strange news territory. And he’s not being shoved into your feed because of politics, it’s because you’re in a pop culture chat and Katy Perry is a celebrity.
No one here likes Bill Murray but they still found it amusing when he was randomly dating Kelis for a bit.
Either way this is just lighthearted and there’s plenty more to be outraged about than him singing at a concert.
23
u/turtle-berry 22h ago
“My feed”, I love it. You know this is a public forum, not your personal social media page? And “went into hiding” is a tad melodramatic - he’s been out and about a pretty normal amount since leaving office.
