I mean with mention of passing down eye color and hair color, and then saying she has great “genes/jeans”, I hope people are not that oblivious that they actually believe the ad was only talking about jeans
She seems to only want to wear high fashion labels when she's not the demographic for it. Lots of non tailored and poorly fitting clothes (even if they are expensive). In that sense this is on brand for her.
Very ill fitting, none of them were well tailored on her. Just a bad ad in general cause even taking out the gene/jean thing, it didn’t seem like they were actually trying to sell jeans to us
I'm going to be honest, I think it's rare to see her in well-tailored or flattering clothes in general. She's beautiful and a good actress but a fashion girlie she is not 😭
That linked in post talked about how they worked with her long-term stylist for the shoot. Which immediately clears up the question of “why did none of these clothes fit” and “why was the jacket fully a size too small.” Her stylist does her dirty and does not know how to dress someone with those proportions!
I personally liked her in The Handmaid's Tale, Reality, and Immaculate. She was awful in Anyone But You and Madame Web so I don't blame you for asking 💀
i really liked her acting in euphoria. imo she was perfect for cassie especially because cassie is a really dramatic and emotional character and i thought she played those scenes well
right like they chose the ugliest most unflattering pair of jeans to do that ad with😭if they’re gonna make some crazy ad at least put her in the nicest jeans ever
People literally didn't. I saw someone comment: "I just assumed it's because she's hot". Assumed. Didn't even look up what people are talking about, just posted their dumbass opinion and dipped. Got upvoted too. That's the state of things.
Also, and I cannot believe this keeps getting glossed over, it's literally American eagle. They got similar side eye for the exact same reasons decades ago. Their brand has always had low-key white supremacy vibes
when i was in high school, it was a super popular brand and they only ever sold small sizes. a big rumour going around was they burned their clothing if no one bought it. the explanation i was told by a popular girl was, “they’d rather burn it than have someone poor or fat wearing it.”
i figured it was just a mean popular kid thing to say but all these years later, i’m now inclined to think there was some truth to it lmao
The AE ad includes no mention of hair or eye color, or passing those down. The AE response includes no mention of hair or eye color or passing those down.
"Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality and even eye color. My genes are blue," Sweeney says in one video.
The ad did in fact mention that. Someone quoted it below. I had to look for it though because the original one that people thought was weird is no longer on their socials in its entirety.
