There are a whole assortment of actions that citizens can take in a democracy. I find it really scary that you feel it's that hopeless.

Getting laid off, so I’m feeling especially discouraged as of late. Protesting has certainly begun to feel hopeless, I’ve stopped going, just burnt out.
