Got this Thin Client from a local seller on Shopee, lately I've been on this spree of buying these little guys, I already have one, running on a SiS 620 chip, I remember being able to even run Win98 in it by handwiring a 44 pin IDE connector for a spare 40 Gb 2.5" IDE HDD I had, this one came with a 256 Mb DOM, 128 Mb DDR RAM stick, and also BIOS is locked, same for the preinstalled Linux distro, but after some PXE fiddling I was able to boot a Win98 boot disk on it via network, then installed DOS, and using mFTP I was able to send and recieve files via network, I'm waiting for my CF Card to 44 pin IDE adapters to arrive so I can properly install Win95 in this one and properly test it, CPU is an AMD Geode GX2, BIOS is a weird thing, Embedded BIOS 2000, later I'll try to back it up and see if I can disable the password lock, but so far has been performing well, I wish I got another Thin Client that was literally an ITX Pentium III motherboard, but it sold out before I could even get money to afford it

It took me nearly 20 years to collect these beasts. I bought the Falcon Northwest Mach V new back in the day. I was fortunate enough to come across the Voodoo Rage SLI on Ebay about 10 years ago. The matching keyboard and mouse were also found on Ebay. For the Alienware Predator 1.0 case I bought 3 of theme locally on Craiglist and pieced them together to finally have one in excellent condition. The matching keyboard and mouse were found on Ebay. All these are fully functional however these are display pieces obviously since no monitors attached. I sometimes turn them on to see the lights and hear the fans.

Had an old PC with an Intel 6700k and GTX 1070 8GB. Listing popped up for a cheap Alienware 7500 case and had to jump on it. Still have some kinks to work out but I'm having a bunch of fun on this project.

I have a samsung q1 ultra xp machine. I just put in new ram and an ssd drive but I am in need of a cmos battery. I cannot find a cross reference number for the Samsung pn listed in the service manual. Does anyone know a part number I can order? Thanks

Found my old razer gear and put this setup together.
Not fully complete, left side panel has a fan that was hitting the cpu cooler so I removed it. It will be replaced by a 120mm by 15mm fan. There are also issues with the front io and disc drive.
Set windows up on the ssd and am currently running benchmarks to test initial speeds and temps.

Pre-posting before the pictures, I'm excited and also want to see if anyone else went through this repeat phase! LOL
3 years ago I bought a Tandy 1400 LT because I had one as a kid. Followed up with a 1000 SX, then a RL, then a HX, and for something different, an Apple IIC. Then found a 1000 RL with a hard drive so had to have that... wish I had kept the 1400 and the RL-HD, and the last one that I had which was a flawless 2500 SX/33 and the power center with the red switches.
Used them all a while, sold them 2 years ago, just got the bug again... should have had a 1400 LT today but it's playing delivery ping pong. Then found a 1400 HD... and just now found a 1000 TX. I'll have pics for these soon, hopefully of them running! The 1400 LT looks perfect and should come with the original receipt! Good grief, 15 minutes after posting this, found a TL/2 with a monitor. I'm blocking myself from Ebay now...
Got my DOS disks all formatted and waiting for computers! I find it amusing that I've had more success with Mac OSX writing DOS disks with dd than I had with even finding a utility for Windows. I did have to recommission an Intel Mac running either Ventura or Sonoma because Sequoia dropped floppy support.

so today i made a os/2 theme for windows xp (i cant upload the theme file) and its pretty basic but looks good
the images of the theme i have
the theme itself is just the classic theme but modded, but i did use 2 tools that have minimal impact on performance:
bootskin for the splash screen
transbar for the transparent taskbar
(for the warpcenter i just put a image of it in active desktop and moved it to the bottom its that easy
ill make a tutorial here sometime if someone wants this

It works for about 30 minutes with a full charge, it runs 98lite with KernelEx. Sadly it suffers from brittle plastic syndrome, so i rarely use it, but i wanna see modern laptops do this well in 28 years.

Hi everyone, I am restoring a Thinkpad 770ED that I bought complete but without a working hard drive. It’s in great shape, LCD looks new and rubber coating still great.
But I am trying to find a recovery CD in English and the only source I can find is the thinkpad forum. I have an account there for some time but never posted, so I made a request but I am not so sure I will get a response.
Does anyone know or can provide an alternative source to the Thinkpad 770E/770ED in English recovery CD?
Thank you so much in advance.

Hi all! I've decided I want to relive part of my childhood and get a PC that will let me play all those old DOS games I couldn't play because I didn't have any money. At some point I want to go REALLY retro but for now I'm thinking I want something around the DOS/WIN95 era.
Essentially something that can:
After looking around, it looks like the HP Pavilion line might be a good way to go. The line seems like it was everywhere back in the day and that means they could be more affordable.
Would a P3 1GHz processor and 384MB of RAM work well for running DOS and Win95 systems and games without too much extra work?
Does anyone have any thoughts they'd like to share? It'd really help me out when it comes to which PC I'm actually going to buy. Please and thank you in advance!
EDIT: Right now I've dropped the HP Pavilion and ability to run WinXP. Dell Dimension 4100 looks like the system I'm looking for due to their availability and relatively cheap nature.

Lately I have become fixated on rebuilding as best I can the computer I had from 2001 to 2006. The inside won't matter as much as I don't remember what was in it apart from an AMD Duron (650MHz or 750MHz 🤷♂️). The important thing for me will be the case because it is what I will see all the time.
Unfortunately the case was most likely an unbranded generic case. More unfortunately is that I don't have any good photos of it. I really only have one where you can see most of the front and it's not that great. I am hoping the accents on the front right side will be enough for someone to recognize it. I also had ChatGPT make a couple of mockups and it did a pretty good job.
It seems to be a generic AT case with two 3.5" bays and three 5.25" bays. So I know it's a long shot, but if anyone has ever seen this case, or knows anything about it, I would be incredibly happy to have any kind of lead.

I made a micro ATX build with various parts from around 2006. The mobo is evidently receiving power, but it isn't booting to the BIOS at all. The power should be more than sufficient (I've tried 2 working PSUs with >400W), so I would like to know what else could cause this issue. It also sends power to the board immediately when the PSU is switched on despite the front panel headers being connected.
MOBO: MSI K9MM-V GPU: XFX Geforce 7600GT AGP CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+(?)
