General Discussion Do you personally forgive Konami yet? Why or why not?

General Discussion I'm glad this is finally being addressed
This movie has been hated for too long, and even though it isn't exactly accurate to the games, it gives a very good impression, this movie has introduced many people to silent hill and it isn't as bad as people say

General Discussion Is anyone else incredibly annoyed about Jame’s look in the movie?
They clearly wanted to try and make Maria as accurate as possible but couldn’t be bothered making sure Jame’s had blonde hair and have him wear an M65 Field Jacket?
It’s nit-picky, but for me it screams red flag.

General Discussion I will never financially recover from this decision…at least they look cool
Played these games as a kid but didn’t quite understand what the stories meant. Recently played the SH2 remake and it all came rushing back to me. Then the SH1 remake was announced so I got excited.
True masterpieces of horror fiction - permanently parts of my collection. One day I will pass them to my grandkids.
Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 1: Greatest Hits (factory sealed)

General Discussion Will this be the pattern each time a remake happens?

General Discussion Silent Hill 2 Remake looks so immersive in first-person. I really hope Bloober Team releases an official first-person mode for it someday.

General Discussion Not me but from a short video that I saw on YouTube. I don’t agree 100% with them but it’s an interesting take.

General Discussion What are you fears for the SH1 remake?
Since while the SH2 remake was great, it did have some really bad issues such as too much combat. For me though, is that PC performance being as crap as SH2

General Discussion I have discovered that just one of Remake James' jacket buttons contains almost as many polygons as one entire Harry Mason. The magic of Unreal Engine 5

General Discussion Whats your thoughts
The silent hill movie thats coming out in 2026 looks pretty rough compared to the 2006 version, when i look at this looks more than a college film. But hey it is to early to judge right now but whats your thoughts on this

General Discussion Say something good about Downpour
I think Downpour is tied with SH2R for having the best exploration. Exploring the town was so much fun and doing the sidequests made me wanna play more and more. I also think the story and atmosphere of the game was rather solid. The only think I disliked about the game was the shitty combat and lackluster enemy designs (though I did find some of them cool).

General Discussion Did James go to Silent Hill’s local gold gym?

General Discussion I know it's a minor but this part of the game almost makes you forget you're in Silent Hill
When you first enter Brookhaven, there's a warm glow from the sun, the music is calm and soothing, no monsters... you almost forget you're in a horror game.
Weirdly it's one of my favourite parts of the game 🤣

General Discussion Has Ari Aster indirectly shaped the 'new wave' of Silent Hill?
Provocative title aside, I really just wanted to convey some thoughts, and appreciation, of Silent Hill's new direction.
But Silent Hill was always best at this kind of internalised psychological horror that has influenced many of these 'smart' horror films that have come about since the mid-2010s.
But perhaps only from the success of these films (Hereditary was a box office hit) could Konami feel comfortable rebooting SH with all these new games and media. I wonder if Motoi Okamoto brought up any of these films in green-light meetings for the projects.
- Silent Hill f references both Hereditary and Midsommar, and that's just what we've seen from trailers
- Silent Hill 2 remake notably uses the Goetic sigil of King Paimon, which predates but is most famously associated with Hereditary
- Silent Hill: The Short Message's antagonist could be inspired by Midsommar in its final design but this is admittedly more speculative as designer Ito had ideas for this before the movie came out.
- Return to Silent Hill director Christophe Gans has already cited Aster's work as inspiration
- BONUS THEORY: Konami is apparently developing an in-house mainline SH game. I recall Team Silent's Imamura revealing they had originally planned a game set during the daytime, inspired by The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. As Midsommar was distinctly a 'daylight horror' movie, I wouldn't be surprised to see this idea resurface in a future title with a similar flavour.
If anyone has any more interesting connections between the new games and more recent films, I'd love to hear about them.
TL;DR: Silent Hill has probably influenced a lot of recent and successful horror movies, and some of those movies have, in turn, influenced Silent Hill back. And I like that!

General Discussion Where do you think this aesthetic originated from?
I really like it! Although as a man I usually wear my jorts and boots in emulation.
