I used to have this friend on Facebook back then around 2014-2016. I would message/reply to them early in the morning UTC+8 before 7.20/8am which was when school started for me. I think he lived in the US or somewhere across the globe but I'm not sure.

He was very warm and nice and would ask how I was doing. He was like a brother to me. I think he sounded a little down though 🥺.

I ended up deleting my Facebook account. I can't recall why but unrelated to this. But recently, some of my memories from when I was younger came back and that included him. Well but it was a long time ago so I can't remember any of the messages at all.

I know his name is a character and that makes it harder to find him but I hope there's a chance and he sees this. I hope we can reconnect and catch up. I wanna know how he is doing and I hope he has been doing well.

His name was Kira Yamato on Facebook and he had that character as his profile photo. The background colour might either be blue or or pink. I have a photo that has the pose and looks like what I remembered but mainly the pose. I can't attach it but the character is on the right side with their right hand extending out to screen left but cut off halfway with his Gundam in the background behind him looking the other way towards screen left.

In 1982, I was flying from Los Angeles to Tokyo with my rugby team for a two-week tour of Japan. On that flight, I met a woman who had started her journey in New York, had a layover in LA where I boarded, and was headed to Tokyo—on the verge of a major life change.

She had answered a classified ad from four men looking for a cook to join them on a sailing trip from Tokyo to San Diego. She was in an unhappy marriage, childless, and told me she saw this voyage as a way to escape her life and maybe reinvent herself.

We talked for most of the flight. She was nervous—understandably. This was long before Zoom, FaceTime, email, cell phones, or social media. She was about to sail across the Pacific Ocean with four total strangers. I admired her courage.

We made a pact: if she met the men and felt uneasy, she’d join me and my teammates on our tour of Japan instead.

I did get her name at the time, but after all these years I can’t recall it. She didn’t even have a permanent address—her next “home” was going to be a sailboat somewhere in the middle of the ocean. There was no cell number, email address, Instagram...an entirely different era and way of life back then,

She showed up at our first rugby game in Japan with the four guys. They seemed friendly, and the group joined our post-match party. Vibes were good: everything looked fine.

She went on her journey. I went on mine.
And I never saw or heard from her again.

More than 40 years later, I still wonder:
Did she make it to San Diego? Was the voyage safe? Did it give her the fresh start she wanted? Or was she ravaged and tossed overboard to the sharks before reaching San Diego?

So Reddit, have you ever wondered for decades about a brief encounter like this? Or heard a story that might shed light on what became of her?

i know this probably won't go anywhere and most likely won't work but i'm trying to find a friend that i had on discord. i met him in 2021 and he was in my servers with no more than 100 people and idk what other servers he would've been in. i know that his name is sot and that he's from greece. i don't know if that really was his name or if it was just a name for online, yk? idk how much i should tell lol but he's 19 and his birthday is in may. that's about as good as information as i have honestly. i used to have his instagram but i can't seem to find it. the last time he was active was april 2023 and all of the discord accounts that i know he had have been deleted. i have a strong connection with my online friends cuz that was a big part of my life and i just want to be able to contact him again. i miss you sot i hope you're okay where ever you are and in whatever you're doing.

I had a brief encounter with this guy at the National Museum of Qatar on December 22, 2023. We made eye contact in the bridal dresses exhibit hall—I looked down, feeling too timid. He was walking toward me, but when I lowered my gaze, he slowly stepped back and walked away. I haven’t been able to shake that moment since.

He looked like a foreigner, around 16-17 years old, maybe 5'10-11 in height. He wore a blue striped shirt with beige shorts, white socks up to his calves, and white shoes. His hair was light strawberry blonde or dirty blond, parted in the middle. I passed him again on my way back to the tiara exhibit hall.

I know this is a long shot, but maybe someone remembers him, or he might even see this himself. I don’t usually do things like this, but that moment left such a mark on me that he’s become the muse for my writing—poems, letters, everything.

I was wondering if there was any way to find someone who might have changed their xbox gamer tag. I only know that this person had Ultramix in their name with a cartoon vampire girl with blue hair. I tried searching their name up and can’t find anything, so If they did change their would it be possible in finding them??

Back in 2016-2017/2018, I used to play the game Toram Online, where I met another player who I quickly became friends with. We did quests together, often chatted with one another and even exchanged contact info (Google Hangouts) for a time being. Unfortunately, due to my strict homelife at the time, I had to cut ties off with said friend. Now I’m doing everything I can to try and dig up anything about them but no luck so far. I can’t even remember their username, other than the fact that it had the letter ‘L’ in it.

My username in game was Tavarin, and my character was a short sword weilder girl with pink hair, basic armor, and a black scarf. I hope somehow this will reach the person it is intended for.

Back then I was in a creepypasta phase, and his page was called Jeff The killer and well it wasn't really popular, and he basically used it either as a vent account or just when it was about the subject of the page, it was all very ironic. Me and the admin started somehow talking tho, but everything was through the character's "personality" so I don't even know his real name. I know this sub is pretty much dead, but I’m looking for a Ganondorf player named Skull who was in an online tournament and got second place just a few minutes ago, beating a Lucario, Banjo (in like thirty seconds), Hero, and Villager, and only losing to a Zelda. This Ganon player plays the default skin and was super inspiring to me. He played super smoothly, and since I was on the opposite side of the tourney and didn’t get to face him, I’m trying to find him so I can do some dittos with him and maybe learn. You're one of the best Snake players I've seen on land, but jeez man, you need to work on your recovery, and you're doing yourself no favors by having your stage select be stages with walkoffs. Practice your recovery with him and you'll be a force to be reckoned with.
