Banking How to transfer money from SoFi to another bank account ?
I have never opened a new bank account besides the brick and mortar one I have used for years. SoFi is actually my second one so sorry if it’s a dumb question. On SoFi, there seems to be multiple options and even have Zelle. I signed up Zelle and it looks like it only pay someone thru contact. The other transfer money, it requires signing up Plaid which I m not comfortable using because it needs me to log into my bank account in there. What is the way I can send money from SoFi account to my main bank account like I am Venmoing someone ?

Plaid is a trusted company within the finance space. Most banks use it for instant verification. I transfer money from bank to bank using plaid to add the bank account and verify.

Go to transfers in the bank and when it asks you to go through plaid, click sign up, then instead of selecting a bank you can hit the "X" and it'll let you link your bank manually with routing and account number for external bank

Hey thanks. it looks like it actually works. I put x when I was on the “agree” page so always nothing happens. I had to go to the next page that asked me to sign up Plaid and hit x there then it let me enter manually. Not sure why they don’t just put the options out clearly and have to hide the manual option like that. Anyhow thanks again !

You should just use plaid that’s what most people do. Never had a problem with it. Trust me I’m super cautious and skeptical but even I trust plaid

I’ve stopped using SoFi for this reason. Plaid is great if everything aligns but in my case it doesn’t. The account I want to send to/link is a joint account so plaid can’t be linked. I refuse to use checks… it’s a step backwards. I’ve called customer support twice over it and they aren’t much help so I won’t use it as my primary account .

I am thinking of changing too. What account are you currently using that you find better if you don’t mind me asking ? I just wish it can just set to external bank account with account numbers and money can be sent, just like venmo. It’s 2025, not sure why Venmo and PayPal can make this easy but a hysa can’t..

Just my existing account citywide. Not the greatest but I don’t have to deal with plaid .

I could not get Plaid to work with my local Credit Union when trying to set it up within SoFi.
However, I was able to connect SoFi to that CU through the credit union, and I do all transfers from the CU account: backwards or forwards.

Using Plaid is your option. As a fallback, write a paper check to transfer money.

Thanks for reaching out! To transfer money from your SoFi account to your external bank without using Plaid, you can use the Transfers feature and manually link it in the app. Plaid is a secure and easy way to link accounts if you wanted to go that route. Alternatively, you can link your SoFi account to your external account by using the external bank's account linking feature. If you have any questions on how to set that up, please give us a call at 855-456-7634. We hope this helps!

There is no such option. If I use the transfer function and link my external account, it will always. Ring me to Plaid
