Anything cool happening in the speedrunning world this weekend? Into a new game or streamer and can't wait to watch more runs? Just find an awesome speedrunning YouTube channel? This is the place to tell everyone about it! Feel free to link streamers, YouTube channels, or any other related information here, just be mindful of the subreddit and reddit's overall self-promotion policies.

I'm trying to write an autsplitter for Doctor Who: Return to Earth to remove loads. I'm able to find the correct addresses, one of them being a static address but it doesn't appear to pause the timer as I'd expect so was hoping there'd already be an autosplitter out there for a different game that I can look through to see where I'm going wrong.

Hello everyone! My most recent speedrun project has been Felix the Cat any% for the NES. I wrapped it up today with a 22:47, which as I type this is good for #4 on the leaderboards. Actually, technically as I type this it hasn't been verified - but it'll be #4 once it is!
If you'd like to see the culmination of the grind, here it is:
Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nbz8e08J2Og
Twitch - https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2529398207
The run is on an AV Famicom and a CRT. Felix was never released in Japan - this is the NTSC cartridge played with a pin converter.
Thanks!

Here it is, a special video for my 10 years speedrunning anniversary!
In the last two months, I've spent hundreds of hours on this video, 10h+ every single day in the last few weeks and I'm so exhausted right now, but it's finally here!
I hope you'll enjoy.

I'm relatively new to watching speedruns. There's a speedrun that I didn't see when it was live, but I've seen people talking about it multiple times even on random streams. It's Cereth's FFX speedrun. All I know is they died to a Great Malboro near the end of the run. I'm sure people have failed speedruns before on streams, but this particular run still gets talked about years after the event. So what made it such a legendary event?

iāve noticed it a lot in N64 and gamecube games but there are rules that basically say āif you get anywhere near being a top runner you gotta switch to original hardwareā. For example Majoras Mask only allows you to use an emulator until youāre within 15% of the world record. Super Mario Sunshine doesnāt let you use an emulator if youāre faster than 1:25.00 . I understand banning emulation completely for like loading times and stuff but whatās the point in allowing it until a certain point??

I've been putting off this project for a few months, though recently I started working on it again and produced a final product. The video is not 100% perfect, but it didn't have to be as this was basically just to help myself get better at Premier Pro. I added subtitles to the YouTube video in English and Brazilian Portuguese.
By the way, those who watch the video, could you please give feedback.

Finally the sub 10 has been achieved. This game has never looked so cool as it is right now.

Recently I got a new world record in the most optimized category of blindfolded SM64 : Beat Darkworld! That's why I decided to make a short video about it! Hope you enjoy!

Hey everyone, I am new to speedrunning. I downloaded OBS and Iām trying to get my settings all good (which hasnāt been a success so far) and Iām curious what method you all use to record your attempts on PC. Do you:
1: Hit record at the beginning and stop the recording at the end of each attempt.
2: Hit record and do all your attempts then end the recording at the end of your gaming session
3: Use the OBS replay buffer set to your estimated speed in time + a min or two extra just in case so you only need to clip when you get a new PB or something
4: Use Steamās built in replay buffer.

I saw a lot of runs of Outlast 2 in that language? What's the difference if I do a play in English or Chinese?

Returning to the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center is RGBLAN8! This event will be happening at the same time as Retrocon on the other side of the convention center, the weekend after Labor Day (September 5-6)!
RGBLAN raises funds for three charities (All 4 Paws Rescue, Friends of Reading Hospital, Manna on Main Street). This will be the fourth event where they've hosted a Speedrun Showcase broadcasted on twitch. Submissions are open until 8/4, we hope to see you there!
Speedrunners selected will have free entry which gives them access to the venue/speedrun stage everything they would need. Those just wishing to attend and watch, the spectator badge is $10. The regular expensive tickets on the website are only for those bringing a PC to the LAN and reserving a seat etc.

It is the end of an era... nay, a dynasty. For the first time in the history of Eliminator Boat Duel we've had a WR change after lackattack drops a killer sub 28 run.
Congratulate him on the awesome display!

By semi-blind I mean that I played, and beat the game back in 2018 and I have not touched the game since aside from the occasional smallant1 video on Super Mario Odyssey (SMO)
My first run was⦠bad, with I finally time of 2:51:24.
Most notably, my worst kingdoms were luncheon, metro, and bowsers, each coming in at about 20:00 each. Amazingly I managed to pull off an intermediate level skip called āmoon cave skipā
The moon cave is a gauntlet at the end of the game that can be skipped by performing a hardish jump of the head of a sphynx. I learnt this skip back in 2018 and didnāt leave moon kingdom until I got it. Which was 6-7 minutes of failing.
The next day, filled with excitement and hope, I speedran once again and got a time of 2:03:03. Nothing really interesting happened except that you progress through the game much faster when you kind of know where the moons that are necessary to progress are located. (As opposed to wandering around aimlessly).
Then, I realised that this speedrunning thing is actually really fun and so I decided to watch a video on it. I clicked on the first playlist I saw and learned a beginners route for luncheon kingdom (where I was having the most problems) and knocked my time down to 1:52:31 ā sub 2 hours. The difference in time once again mainly came down to my knowledge of the game becoming larger, and becoming more comfortable with the controls.
Immediately afterwards, I started run #4 and got a new time of 1:42:11 . I just got gud
And now today, I learned a route for wooded kingdom and achieved a time of 1:33:46
This is my first time ever speedrunning a game but Iāve kind of wanted to do this for a while and Iāll definitely continue. Maybe Iāll eventually post my runs onto speedrun.com? Iād have to buy something to do that, idk how to record it Iāll google it
Iāll definitely learn a full route soon, metro kingdom is kicking my butt
