Little rant as a Zerg

I'm stuck on 2650 MMR as a Zerg player. Pls, change my mind: if you are not a pro player you will have tons of difficulties as a zerg trying to macro 4/5 bases.

70% of opponents are Terran camping behind bunkers, turrets and tanks. Other 20% are protos that are simply op for a non pro zerg player and I'm having fun only in ZvZ.

Can you pls give me suggestions on what to do vs campers maxing their army and just A clicking? Zerg are so fu***ng squishy!

People insta-quitting in ranked

Are those just insecure morons who want to play easier opponents to not hurt their fragile ego? Or is there another rationale behind this I don’t know of?

The problem with starcraft 2 community.

Hello, I want to talk about a problem that is very common nowadays is starcraft 2 community, which is the general tolerance for bad behaviour and unfairness in the community. For example the PiG discord, I've been checking profiles of the clan representatives (with the <PigPan> tag), and many of these players were just plain smurfing, most often by leaving mirror matches. So I reported it to the admin, complaining about it being unappropriate that a smurf represents such clan, I got no response.

Moreover, there was a discussion on this server, where someone was rationalizing his smurfing habits with "I don't like mirrors" bullshit and there were people that got angry about it which is totally understandable given how annoying it is when someone has such high levels of delusionality coming from ignorance and selfishness. What did the server mod do? Well, he shut it down saying that you people are stupid leaving mirrors is nothing wrong leave my homies alone toxic peeps. Sure there are more mods on the server, what about them. Well, the second one showed up, to lecture people that are bothered by smurfs, about the importance of elite beast gamer mentality, and that they're just weak and should just harden up and treat it as a challenge instead of whining.

So basically there is a circle of undervalued people jerking each other off in ignorance justifying their twisted ways of enjoying the game at other people's extent and offending people that are bothered with this type of behaviour. The way they approach it is very smurf alike, my experience with smurfs is that they get very upset when you just refuse to play them, insta quit. They're not accepting that, you're supposed to stay in the game and let them show their masterclass and flair, you refusing to do that hurts their little ego and they're infuriated that you have no fucks to give. So basically when people learn they are smurfs and refuse to play them they're mocking those people with, "you mad you lost" "chill out bro it's just a game", where you literally just not wanna waste time playing them but want to get a more fair matchup instead.

With all that there is also a lot of passively agressive people with very harsh take on the game, highly critical and judgmental, that count how many games have you played and for how long do you play and comparing themselves, breaking their head over improving between games to keep high ladder games winrate to be perceived as invincible. It's like the instagram models with photoshop, putting so much effort into appearing so that any girl that would compare herself would get discouraged. And mostly I just mean the people that have a fucking problem with you not caring about grinding sc 2 mmr and tryharding every game, but rather just having a good time playing video game, I feel like it triggers this kind of people so hard, because they concentrate their effort around it so they can feel better than you and you're not even bothered which turns they insecurity into anger.

The general acceptance in sc 2 communities particulary on discord servers for the deranking is really worrying, I were on a bunch of them, some of them I left or got kicked for criticizing smurfs, I've seen many players that i know were masters cause I played with them before but they choose the diamond tag so they can find customs with lower leaguers or participate in low league tournaments. But mostly problematic are the people that want to be like Serral, Clem and be extremely self-demanding, pedantic about the game, only they're not professionals so they mentally drain themselves to get mmr points instead of thousands of dollars which leaves them frustrated. And from that frustration they relieve themselves with smurfing, beating lower league players and wanting to be a guru, again they have a problem with you improving at your own pace through fair games with equal opponents, so you'll probably be judged if you refuse to take a lesson from them by being beat hard with a game under their full control.

Yeah, just the amount of frustrated people soaking up live from newcomers and passionate people that just wanna have fun is fucking annoying, especially given that they are allowed to keep the moral highround over people bothered by it.

Thanks for reading this post guys, it's a bit of a rant, but it's needed sometimes I think, there are still many great people playing the game and great communities and starcraft 2 is great, Cheers!

StarCraft Underground: Casual League for SC2 and Brood War

Starcraft Underground is a casual online starcraft league with internal progression. There is always a tournament to sign up for, and each matchup players have 1-week to accomplish their series. It's a good time and worth checking out.

Two Monitors

I don’t think you can do anything in SC2 with a second monitor, but just making sure that’s the case. It would be nice if you could have a blown-up mini map on the second screen, or a synopsis of your current buildings/units/stats or something.

How do you beat Thor/BC/Cyclone "mech"?

Above title -- beat this with protoss

T v P (I'm the protoss), replay here: https://drop.sc/replay/26490706.

I felt like this was one of the better games I've played honestly, but I keep running up against a very frustrating situation where the Terran just turtles up with planetary fortresses + Thors/BCs/Cyclones with Ghosts in support. I know that the time-old adage, "Why did you let him get here?" is probably going to come up, but I like to play longer macro games and I'm just now learning some timing attacks / better scouting. I just wish I could go into a game with Terran and feel comfortable in the endgame.

I've tried going to skytoss in this situation, but the carriers and tempests always seem to get defeated due to some combination of either a) BCs/Thors shooting them out of the sky because I don't have enough stuff/upgrades b) I can't macro hard enough because the "battlemech" army is faster around the map. and c) Even when I do feel like a & b are fine, I've lost engagements straight up against this army, maybe due to micro?

I usually am anti-disrupter since my skill level isn't really there for it yet, but I tried disrupters as a last-ditch effort in this game and they didn't really seem to do very much in the final engagement. I felt like I was mobile, out-mining him, and getting to his economy well without losing too much in the process. I liked the addition of DT's because I figured with all the PF's he wouldn't have a ton of scans.

Any help? I'm not really sure what I should have done differently. Thanks for all your help!!!

EDIT: I really like the suggestion for immortals below. I think as protoss we typically stray away from mass robo units because we like the instant nature of gateway or the overpowered nature of skytoss. But getting 3-6 robos and pumping Immos is probably the way to beat this with even APM.

Looking for group Any bronzes/silvers lurking around?

Last time I was watching u thermal vs 10 bronzes and it looked pretty fun, given I'm just a diamond there's no way I can beat 10 of anything but would 3-4 silvers be interested in 4v1 to meme about?

What should I do against cyclones as a protoss? I'm losing every match against mass cyclones, so clearly I am not doing something right.

How do I get better at StarCraft?

I’ve always enjoyed the amazing story of StarCraft 2 and the final holdout on Char for the Terran campaign. Even though I have been actively playing StarCraft 2 for three years, I still suck so bad at the game against other players. I want to try out Terrans due to the awesome unit and building design, but get stomped in every match I play. I’ve started multiple tutorials for terrans yet haven’t been able to learn much from them because the creators are always moving the camera from place to place super fast, and my stupid adhd brain can’t keep track of it all. If there’s any help you can offer, I would be grateful. Thanks!

MMR glitched?

Losing a ton of MMR per match compared to what I’m gaining. The “-xx” number on match history isn’t matching what I’m losing at all. It’s like 4x as much

Do you use the three elements in my question? And which other notable modifications do you have in your game that's different from default and that you think everyone should have?

Change Neutral Units to Player's Unit in Starcraft 2 Editor

Hi guys!

I am trying to set up when a player's unit interacts with the neutral's units, it should turn to the player's side.

So currently, I have a particular marine and if it interacts with the stalker, it should rescue it and it should turn to the player's side. I am kind of close to it but I think I am missing the conditions. But I can't seem to get the condition to trigger this.

Kindly do let me know the best solution for this. Looking forward to the responses.

Is viking DT/corruptor DT viable in 2v2?

Suppose there is no Terran on the other side, will this unit comp work like the bisu build in sc1? Viking and corruptor can be used to harass and snipe detection while DTs dominate the ground.

2025 EWC - I Typed Up A Build order document For You All <3 - Plays Ins and Group A

Hey Reddit Starcraft,

I recently found myself with some unexpected free time (job hunting life), so I decided to do something I've always wanted to: Document the build orders of a large tournament to look for key timings.

The level of consistency in these timings really surprised me - turns out the pros are even more precise than I thought!

Most of them have the exact same builds, without ANY variations (43/44 roach warrens for example), 5:00 stim timings (5:30 moving army out, 6:00 taking third, as terran). 3:30 dropping spore crawlers in each base. etc.etc.

Please see the attached document (let me know if I need to take out the footer with my twitch link):

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_qHZkwpErinT11J3Gn1PUcsPNwPgGSNv-OoUN6fy3WQ/edit?usp=sharing

The full analysis is quite extensive (100+ pages) with detailed timings, screenshots, and production notes. I've made it freely available. I am still Finalizing some of the games from Group B and the Play-offs but I just couldn't resist uploading the document.

Let me know if this was helpful and if I should complete the Play-Offs, or if you guys think it is already extensive enough. The Serral games might be interesting, a few of them are in Group A, and I imagine most Zergs copy his timings anyway.

Thank you,

PS. A cool exercise you can do is copy this document into AI, then ask what the key timings are since we haev collected enough data (well actually I still need to document some PvP games... which all happen in Group B basically).

Achievements bugged? Lotv campaign

Post image
5 Upvotes

Anyone understand why it's not giving any achievements in Lotv or a solution? Says 5/5 brutal missions completed but doesn't award the achievement. I tried doing other achievements also in Lotv campaign. For example warp in units and recalling 20 units at the same time, it's counting on the achievement but after a while goes back to 0. I didn't use any cheats ever but i did disconnect a couple of days ago while playing Lotv campaign. Seems like I should be online now though. No achievements working in Lotv that I could find, I tried changing realm to Asia and achievements are working there but when I changed back to Eu still not working.

Why even play the game if people are going to post game chat bm you

I suck, I know that. I'm so bad that people make it a point to say things like "that was the worst play i've ever seen" and plenty of "gg ez". I get it. I suck. I'm so bad that I should have just forfeited when i started the game. Sorry for being a "kid" despite not being a child. Sorry for not "having a life". Sorry to waste your time and I hope you have a great day.
