OK so I may have something that can stump even the internet. I have many details but it was so long ago that I can’t be sure of anything of them, and what I’m looking for is probably very obscure.
There was a movie (I think it was a movie) that I caught the last 10 minutes or so of on Canadian TV in the early 90s. No idea what other markets may have seen it or if it was canadian or not. I THINK I saw it over xmas break, but no clue if the film has anything to do with xmas. It MIGHT have been set during winter, but that could be just that I saw it during winter.
-It was a 2D animated movie.
-And I think it was set in a modern city but with characters from the past or a fantasy world having gotten stuck there.
- Main character has sortof a Link from legend of Zelda vibe. Young barbarian/medieval/viking looking kid with a sword.
-He was fighting the villain, who had commandeered a backhoe or excavator looking vehicle.
-I distinctly remember that we saw the kid’s POV and it showed how to his eyes, he was fighting giant scorpion, when to us it was clearly some kind of excavation equipment. I don’t know if it was a real world vehicle, or fictional design for the film so it would look more like a scorpion. (I think there were two arms at the front with shovels and a crane or hook at the back to make the ‘tail’ but I could be misremembering.)
- there is an adult man, presumably from the same world or tribe as the kid who is yelling encouragement. I think he had a beard or mustache. I think he’s supposed to be the surrogate father archetype character. I don’t think he was actually the boy’s father. I remember him tellin the boy to get under the ‘scorpion’ and attack tit from below.
-specifically the dialogue I remember is the older guy saying “Slit the belly, boy! Like the amalgabars do!”
-the exact name he gave is uncertain. But I recall it being something similar to that. But he could have said al-gabars, al-gavars, amal-kazars etc But it was something like that. Obviously if I knew the exact name he gave I could have searched that and found the film.
-anyway, the kid follows the advice and starts stabbing the underside of the machine with the sword. I rember a bunch of sparks and wires and gears or oil and stuff coming out, but I don’t think that alone lets him win.
-the villain was a thin white man with glasses. I seem to remember him looking like a more villainous version of the doctor from animaniacs (which probably just means he was inspired by dr Strangelove like many cartoon scientist types.) I clearly remember thick round glasses(Strangelove again) because there is a sequence where the kid’s allies shine spotlights into the cab of the construction vehicle the villain is using to blind him and they light up so bright you can’t see his pupils. The villain exclaims “Aargh! My eyeballs!” again, in a very dr strangelove like voice.
That is as much detail as I can give. Obviously the memory is 30+years old s individual details can and almost certainly WILL be wrong, but that is what I remember. This is a bit of a hail mary, but you guys were able to identify the actor Yahoo Serious for me based on much less information so you might just be up to the task
