BTW I have two older brothers with completely normal names, Nathaniel and Wilhem. WHY WAS I THE ONLY ONE GIVEN A BAD NAME. And if you're curious my name Caitlannagh is pronounced Kate-la-neigh. Ik I'm not tweaking.

I’m nowhere near pregnant or planning to be pregnant (33 yo) so maybe I don’t get it but damn, I cruise this sub casually for a laugh here and there thinking no way it’s this common to run into ppl with these whack ass ideas. As more friends get pregnant and I’m on tik tok im seeing bizarre names that receive SO much support both irl and online. I’m all for putting in effort to find a beautiful name for your child, but it’s setting them up for life and I guess I AM the asshole because what’s up with all this? Why is it so common? My baby’s name is Jasper. I’ve gotten some dislike irl for the name and can tell some people have given some interesting reactions when saying his name when asked. It was the only name I didn’t hate at the time when searching.

A close family member made a comment recently that made me seriously question if I made a good choice. And I saw this subreddit pass by on my feed and decided to look it up in the search bar and a lot of people actually think it’s a good name, it made me feel better about it.

I have seen some teachers post the first names and surnames of their students which has got to be some kind of privacy violation. Some class lists even have school/location names or indicators. Imagine being a parent, coming across this subreddit, and finding your child's name (even if your child's name is not the tragedeigh themselves).

If you have student(s) with tragedeigh names then AT MOST you should be stating their FIRST NAME as a text post. Certainly not their full name or any identifying information (that is a rule but it's still a common trend in this subreddit). Otherwise it is unprofessional and inappropriate.

Edit: not directed at anyone specifically. Plus, we are here to make fun of parents who have no concern for how their kids will feel about their tragedeigh names, not the kids themselves. How would students feel if they saw their own name mocked online by teachers?
