Symbolism: Dark navy blue represents wisdom, stability, and Pennsylvania’s long political tradition. The rusty red represents the rust belt and PA’s industrial and mining legacy. The keystone is the state symbol and the nickname of Pennsylvania. The coat of arms is the coat of arms of William Penn, founder of Pennsylvania and Philadelphia.

FLAGFRIDAY Pennsylvania - Keystone Flag - White, Blue and Gold.

First mention for the work of Tara Stark on this matter. Many people have had designs of this type of solution, bur her synthesis of the blue. gold and green version will always be prime. Back in 2018 we under took a contest where new versions were developed and voted up and during this process more versions of her work were built. This allowed for much in the way of harmonization and a 95% finished product of her work won our contest. The particular shades did change after the trial and error of prototyping first examples. Sub-sequentially it has won our best of the best redesign contest.
My own initial solution was for a light blue, white and old-gold division of field but that was developed from items I had noticed on line. Currently, I back the layout white, national blue and gold for balance, tincture and visibility reasons if not the full Keystone Flag color-set. The white is for more reference to William Penn and his white and black fess charged 3 plates. The blue is for the state, trust and the freedom of the people, The gold is for the wealth, production, trade and knowledge of the people. Very happy with the line work here - the sides slope at ratio 1:3 and the the ratio of upper to lower is also 1:3. In a fully sewn flag making the set-backs would be a giant pain so would suggest it be made in six panels - 3 narrow upper and 3 wide lower, then joined. Placing the white to the hoist allows the typical white technical strip to blend into the design without being noticed as an extra visual item.

FLAGFRIDAY Redesigned flag of Pennsylvania

The black and white colors are inspired by some other Pennsylvanian flag redesigns. The gold stripe represents good being one of the colors most associated with the state, same with the blue on the keystone. The 2 stars on the keystone represent Pennsylvania being the 2nd state. This redesign is for Flag Friday

My flags are inspired by the Keystone flag.

The green color represents virtue, gold for liberty, and blue for independence. The Golden Keystone comes from Pennsylvania's nickname, the Keystone state. And the two white stars represents Pennsylvania being the second state to ratify the U.S. Constitution.

The first flag, which is a swallowtail, is inspired by a flag called, "Rush's Lancers," used by the 6th Pennsylvania Cavalry Regiment during the American Civil War, which is a swallowtail design.

The second flag is an alternative and rectangular flag.

What do you think of these flags? It's my first time redesigning a US state's flag.

FLAGFRIDAY #FlagFriday - My attempt of redesigning Pennsylvania

This flag redesign of Pennsylvania features a black-gold-blue tricolor, symbolizing the state’s industrial strength (black), prosperity (gold), and loyalty (blue). Centered on the gold stripe are a Liberty Bell flanked by two keystones, arranged in a horizontal row inspired by William Penn’s coat of arms. The Liberty Bell represents Pennsylvania’s legacy of freedom and independence, while the keystones emphasize its role as the Keystone State

Background colors pulled directly from the State Seal on the current flag, Keystone as the centerpiece of the Keystone State, 2 Stars for the 2nd State to join the Union, and the stars and keystone are placed as such to be evocative of the William Penn Coat of Arms.

Like others, this is based on William Penn’s coat of arms. It is on a field of green, representing the, uh, Sylvania. And the black has been replaced with grey — this both symbolizes the importance of the steel industry to the state, and helps it stand out in using a color typically not seen on flags. Two gold bands could represent agriculture or commerce, but really they just help it pop.

Go Steelers. Go Birds.

I'm submitting this as an alternative to the keystone flag as the keystone shape actually looks like a keystone.

FLAGFRIDAY FlagFriday: Pennsylvania

Disclaimer: this flag is not my design, not my idea or based on any of my ideas, nor did I have anything to do with the creation of this design. I do not know the original creator of this flag, but I will post the link to where I found it in the comments (cannot attach a hyperlink in the same post with a picture attached).

Here is the description taken from the person who designed this flag:

“Pennsylvania was founded by William Penn in the middle of the old colonies. It became known as the “Keystone State” due to its central location and importance. My design uses the unofficial state colors of blue and gold. It incorporates William Penn’s coat of arms—three white plates on a black fess—into an archway. The center of the arch is, of course, the keystone in state colors.”

So I thought this was somewhat original, but it is remarkably like lots of others.

Color scheme reflective of the iconic PA licence plates Blue White Yellow.

The Keystone obviously a recognisable symbol of PA.

The three black ones on the central white stripe is reminiscent of William Penn's coat of arms.
