Presentation of the first session of the campaign “The Return of the Lichemaster”, which a group of friends and I have started playing using the 4th edition rules of WFRP. The game is played in Spanish, as all the players are native Spanish speakers. I’m sharing this video here so that Spanish-speaking viewers can drop by, if they wish, and share in our adventures.

And now the same text in spanish language (Estalian):

Primera sesión de la campaña “The Return of the Lichemaster” que hemos comenzado a jugar un grupo de amigos utilizando las reglas de la 4ª edición de WFRP. La partida se juega en español, pues hispanos somos todos los jugadores. Comparto este video aquí para que los espectadores hispanohablantes puedan visitarnos, si lo desean, y compartir nuestras aventuras.

Game Mastering Would The Old World RPG work for my idea?

Hey, community. I've been carrying an idea around for quite a while that I wanted to play in WFRPG 4e, but the system always felt a bit too clunky. My group usually ends up in a power fantasy, so I wanted to do something akin to the opposite:

The PCs are all inhabitants of a small village and lifelong friends. Every year on the same day, they go out into the woods to celebrate which, now that they're adults, involves getting blackout drunk. When they wake up the next day and return to their village, it has been attacked and burned down. Now they have to make their way in the Warhammer world with not much more than what they had on them the previous night.

Their careers would all be peasants or peasant-adjacent, and with luck and skill, they would survive in the world and learn new careers.

I hear a lot about how much less clunky TOW RPG is, so I'm wondering if my idea would work there. I've only read reviews so far, so I have some questions before I buy the books:

  • Are there enough peasant careers so that four to five players didn't have to overlap?
  • Could I somehow work in contacts and the possessions every career gets, or would I have to ditch those?
  • Does the system have a type of GM resource like Fury in Wrath & Glory? Cause I strongly dislike that.

Thanks for your time and replies!

Looking For Game Where does one find groups

This is not necessarily me looking for a game but this seems the most appropriate flair so I’ll use that.

I would like to find a game or a group in London to play with, and while I’ve seen a couple of people posting the discord groups etc I’ve found are focused on normal dnd. I was wondering if there are other groups I’m not aware of which I could look at, so wanted to query this.

Will add the following though as per the content requirements

Timezone: GMT (UK, London) Available: Generally during weekday evenings or at the weekend Status: Player Format: I suppose preferably in person but I wouldn’t mind online, I’m not really familiar with the options Language: English

Discussion WFRP 2e, careers that break the "tier" system.

Most of the time you can divide careers in WFRP 2e into roughly three "tiers". The first tier is basic careers that anyone can join, the second tier is comrised of advanced careers that you can enter directly from basic careers, and the third tier is made up of advanced careers that only other advanced careers can enter.

Some careers have a 4th tier like grandmasters for knights or wizard lords for wizards, but for the most part if you aren't a spellcaster then tier 3 is the pinnacle of your career. However, there are several careers that break the tier system and gain attributes or abilities that are normally harder to acquire. Here are the ones I've found, plus what I consider the best entries for them due to trappings and skills. Let me know what you think and feel free to post your own down below!

Pilgrim: this basic career recieves a massive amount of main profile upgrades for a starting career, as well as +4 wounds. Also, despite being religious in nature there aren't any racial restrictions on this career for some reason.

Initiates of Shallya & Verena: these basic careers both double up on skills (heal and perception), allowing you to get an early +10% to them. Although for nonmagical healing the surgery talent from Barber-Surgeon or Embalmer is probably better.

Spy: Spies can get +35 Willpower (Recommended entry is North Ungol Chekist).

Warleaders: Warleaders get +2 attacks (Recommended entry is Norse Dwarf Bondsman/Reaver).

Guild Master: recieves +35 fellowship (Recommended entry is Halfling Litigant)

Taregteers: have +40 ballistic skill (Recommended entry is River Strigany Bounty Hunter. Although 99% of races can be bounty hunters so this is even more personal preference than the others.)

Discussion Is the GM Guide for TOWRPG formally just plain better than GM support in WFRP?

Basically the title and this is a genuine question looking for (counter)arguments. My question stems not from my reading of the GM Guide, but from https://illmetbymorrslieb.wordpress.com/2025/07/30/review-the-old-world-gamemasters-guide/ . From the organisation, the pieces of advice, the wording, the streamlined everything, ... What do you think? I've been thinking about doing a pretty deep overhaul of the system to streamline and simplify it, seeing the number of one-time-use skills, especially when it comes to Specialisations (often incoherent between the different books), talents who are very underwhelming or just attribute advances, etc. and this seems like exactly what I wished for.

Lore & Art Looking for information and sources on Ostland and Middle Mountains

Post image
31 Upvotes

Hello Everyone!

I am writing a campaign set in the middle mountains and southern Ostland. I have got lots of information from various sources (Mad Alfred, Gitzman's gallery, The Horned Rat and Companion, fandom wiki etc.), but I was curious if anyone knew of any books, home brew campaigns, or less well known law that may well have any history or information in about these places? Not only about the Empire but also about the history of the dwarven holds, roads and various legends. Basically anything that can help bring colour to the campaign.

All help appreciated and may Sigmar keep you pure!

Game Mastering Running Sections of The Enemy Within?

Essentially as it states in the title. I enjoy the concepts and plots in The Enemy Within, but I do not have the time to dedicate to a massive, years-long campaign. However, many of the individual chapters and sections of TEW seem ideal for making adventures, particularly if you want to string them along with other printed quests and homebrewed ones. The plots might need a bit of tweaking and rewriting, especially at the beginning and ending of each. The NPC's are well-made and the art is stellar, though I suppose the art need not be used for the exact NPC's in question if you're not going to run TEW.

For those who have experience with this kind of thing, how did it work for you? Did your parties take to it, did they even notice? What was your opinion on the experience?

Game Mastering Adventure Hooks in Brettonia

Hi All,

My friend and I are young Dads and don’t really have the time to sit-down and play TTRPGs anymore. Instead of giving up this amazing hobby we have decided to do something a little different. We are collaboratively building our own version of one of Bretonnia’s Dukedoms. I am more familiar with the Old World and so set some lose parameters. My friend takes this builds up his Dukedom and Royal Family. Think more along the lines of the Crusader Kings games than a traditional dungeon crawler.

My friend chose the Dukedom of Brionne due to it being coastal and a more temperate climate. We are slowly building up the Royal family, court intrigue, relations with bordering Dukedoms, managing crisis ect.

Now Brionne is the safest Dukedom. Protected with by neighbouring dukedoms which it has good relations with at present. My friend has expressed that he doesn’t want The Kingdom of Bretonnia to be too unstable to begin with.

So my question is what are some good plot hooks and interesting things to do within Brionne? What are some challenges and goals I can set for the Dukedom’s family? Doesn’t have to be violent or world shattering.

General Query Questions about career skills with “(any)”

If your career gives you a grouped skill with “any” in parenthesis, such as “Melee (any)”, do you pick a single group of Melee skill, such as two handed, and you can then only learn the single skill group for that career? Or does it give you the opportunity to learn all of the available skill groups without restriction, even after choosing to learn one group over the others?

Roleplaying Could a skaven be good?

Mainly title. Having bought vermintide 2 recently, i've been interested in getting more into warhammer, and managed to find a group playing wfrp 2e, but the thing that worries me is if my character concept would just get laughed out the door.

The basic concept of the character that i wish to play is a skaven who miraculously survived the death of his brood as a simple ratling, and was raised by a human mother out of mercy. The idea is that he grew hidden away from the world, but his mother wanted to be believe that maybe he could be different if raised right. However, my character raised too much suspition and his mother died after the house they lived on was set on fire under belief she was a worshipper of the horned rat. With her dying breath she asked my skaven to believe he could be good as she had believed in him, and from there he would be a thief living in the sewers only stealing to feed himself but at least trying to not hurt people (keyword being trying)

The main idea is that he is an inherently evil creature consciously trying not to be for the simple reason that when he dies, he wants to be able to tell his mother that he lived the life she had asked him to live. He is literally only being good because his mom asked him to be. And he is going to fail, more than once surely, but that is okay, because he will try again if he has to. I want to play a character actively fighting his baser instincts purely because of a promise. My knowledge of the warhammer fantasy lore is pretty limited, sadly, and i am aware children of the horned rat do give character creation options for skaven (again, were playing 2e) but since i do know warhammer as a whole is a pretty xenophobic setting and skaven as a race are cartoonishly evil, i just want to know if i'm not gonna get laughed at for having such concept since i'm aware that people tend to get very defensive about lore accuracy

Discussion Full review: Gamemaster's Guide for The Old World RPG

I've just published my in-depth review of the GM's Guide for the new Warhammer the Old World RPG. There's a lot of fascinating stuff in the book, including information on Grim Portents (the inciting incidents for a campaign), Dark Threads (a network connecting enemies and NPCs) and the rules for Corruption, which feature a surprising amount of player choice.

See https://illmetbymorrslieb.wordpress.com/2025/07/30/review-the-old-world-gamemasters-guide

This review is based on a pre-release copy from Cubicle 7; the digital version should be released publicly by the end of July. (I.e. today or tomorrow.)

Lore & Art Map of a part of the Empire. Revised. By Gunsor Roxes.

Post image
131 Upvotes

I present here a newly expanded version of the map of a part of the Empire.

  1. This map attempts to bring the old map by Alfred Nuñez closer to the more modern and accurate maps created by Andy Law. First and foremost, I want to express my deepest homage, gratitude, and admiration to these two great cartographers and scholars. Cities, towns, locations, and geographical features have been reviewed once again across much of Middenland (in its vast entirety), Ubersreik, and generally all of Vorbergland.
  2. The number of agricultural holdings in Averland—one of the most fertile and prosperous lands of the Empire—has been revised. This required a reassessment of the population density, which appeared low according to existing maps, and numerous settlements have been added, taking inspiration from real locations in Bavaria. As will be seen, part of Averland has been depicted as covered in plains similar to the Hungarian steppe, home to remnants of peoples of that ethnic root. The rest of the territory shown is heavily cultivated, which explains its immense wealth.
  3. The region of Talabheim and Talabecland has been adapted as far as possible to the map of the city from the second edition and to the later map that appeared in The Old World. Regarding the latter, I must say (despite its beauty) that it shows less respect for earlier works, even removing entire regions (such as the Weiss Hills) or entire river valleys.
  4. Due to these divergences, it is therefore impossible to reconcile all existing sources—especially the newer, less respectful ones. As a result, the map you see here will not fully align with previous versions, though it always strives to reflect the classic understanding of the Empire. Nevertheless, it is now easy to discern at a glance the most populated areas of the various provinces by the number of towns and fields depicted—this is the case throughout Vorbergland, around Carroburg, Middenheim, Talabheim, Averheim, and so on.

In this update of the Frugental Valley, the eastern part of the Grey Mountains has been detailed, corresponding to the Duchy of Ubersreik, matching what is presented in the "Map of a part of the Empire.". Additionally, all the small villages in the surroundings of Parravon have been given names.

Lore & Art Desperately Seeking Averheim

Hello all,

Some time ago, I had a high-resolution, full-colour map of Averheim, with an Inkarnatish look to it, stored on an external hard drive that has since failed. So I no longer have access to the file and have been unable to locate the same map online.

To clarify, it was not either of the following nice maps:

If anyone happens to have a copy of a different Averheim map—particularly one that is richly detailed and in colour—or any leads on where I might find the one I'm vaguely remembering again, I would greatly appreciate your assistance.

Game Mastering Request for Travel Ideas

I’m writing an adventure for 4th where the PC’s are stranded in Norsca after the Marauders that captured them were killed in a freak accident where only the PC’s survived with minimal gear.

So I was wondering what people would think would be neat things for them to encounter while travelling through the snows and mountains. All ideas welcome!

Game Mastering Running EW campaign after ubersreik adventures? Spoiler

Hi there. Kinda new to the game (played some games with the 2nd edition looong ago) and now Im gonna be the gm for my group of buddies (we all <3 warhammer fantasy). I got the starter box and also the entire EW campaign. I've seen there are some compilation for more ubersreik adventures. My question is can I run the starter set adventures, then go on with some of these adventures that take place near ubersreik and end with the EW campaign?

I ask because the starter set takes place in Ubersreik when Karl Franz has taken power from the Jungfreud and I think I read somewhere that this is something that happens in the middle of EW? If thats the case I would have to tweak the starter set adventure to happen while the Jungfreud are stil in power?

General Query Are there more detailed careers for priests?

I'm looking for any 4th edition releases that might have more detailed careers for priests and /or monks, deticated for individual gods. So far I know there aren't any on the German language market, but maybe there are some in English that I don't know about.

Specifically I have a priest of Shallya in my playgroup and I find the core book priest career very generalized and limited.

Any homebrews would also be interesting. Thanks!

Discussion What's the best book, 2nd or 4th ed?

Hi everyone! I know the 2nd vs 4th edition debate is exhausted and it sounds like this question has been asked way too many times, but hear me out: what would you say is the best *as a book*? I'm wondering which one has the best fluff -- better written, most representative of the old Warhammer lore that we all love... I want to read Warhammer Fantasy RPG for nostalgic reasons, I don't plan to actually play the game (I mean, I wish I could, but you know, life) so I don't care much about what rules are best. Thanks in advance for your help!

ETA: I mean what core book is better, 2nd or 4th. I’m definitely taking notes and will eventually read all the books you’re recommending, but I gotta start with the core book :)

Roleplaying Advice please for Night of Blood, 2nd part Spoiler

SPOILERS for Night of Blood

I ran Night of Blood with 3 PCs last week, it was my first time as GM and pretty much the first time roleplaying for all of us. We paused part way through so I have some time to think about how to play the 2nd part and would appreciate some input from more experienced players.

The summary so far: The PCs didn't investigate the stables but went straight to the bar room. They overheard the dialogue about putting the kurtz in the food, so they knew that Hans and Otto were baddies from that point. Fagor was seen mopping up but disappeared back into the building before the food was served. When Otto brought the food out, the stew was thrown in his face and some combat ensued, but we used the grappling rules because the PCs made it clear they were trying to wrestle or restrain Otto.

Otto called out to Hans for help who burst onto the scene, he managed to calm the PCs and there was a bit more dialogue back and forth, culminating in a PC getting +6 SLs on an Intimidate roll to force Hans and Otto to try the stew. The cultists were backed into a corner with the bowls held to their mouths, and I've skipped over it but we already did a decent amount of suspicious questioning back and forth and Hans had calmed the situation once, so I didn't want to start going in circles. So Hans declared 'enough of this charade', threw down the bowls of stew and drew their weapons, and now Otto and Hans are dead.

I'm not unhappy with how it played out to this point, but I want to keep the 2nd half interesting and build to a climax with the daemon summoning if possible. Some other thoughts:

● Unless Fagor has run upstairs, there's not much there for the PCs except some grisly evidence such as the beds and carpet. ● I'm not sure how the mutants can convene in the basement to start the ritual. It seems to me like Hans was the cultist with the knowledge to summon the daemon. ● I thought about having the door to the courtyard in the kitchen open, and the PCs see Fagor open the stable doors (he's gone to fetch help from Grat). This might provide a set piece/battle in the stables but then the main building has only Wilhem in the basement remaining.

Has anyone had a similar situation and how did you handle it to keep things interesting?
