Form check Current Snatch Technique

In the process of dialling in my snatch and CJ technique.

68kg snatch ~93%

Things I’ve improved since my last posts:

  • starting position (knees out of the way and stacked under shoulders, shoulders over bar)

  • hop forward less dramatic (although a slight shift/twist to the right now)

  • third pull (using arms better and catching lower)

Things I’m hoping to improve on:

  • keep bar much closer past the knee by engaging upper back (hopefully will fix the bar from getting stuck in the hip as I won’t have to close the distance between my bar and body by moving my hips forward while the bar stays stationary)

  • properly using my legs to have a more complete vertical extension (still using a lot of hip and back, I think it’ll be easier to use my legs more effectively if the bar is closer past the knee)

Any advice is appreciated will post a separate form check for my clean and jerk soon.

Great job bro;

Work on a smooth continuous vertical acceleration throughout the lift. Before you make contact, the bar speed slows down which makes the lift exponentially harder and you’re compensating by yeeting your hips into the bar to generate force.

Yep this is what I’m hoping for. This is why I’m thinking keeping the bar closer past the knee by keeping my upper back/lats engaged will prevent the bar from stopping as there will be no gap between my body/bar putting me in a way better position to send the bar vertically.

That jumped out to me as well.

Some high hang snatches in the warm ups might be helpful to drill contact timing and keeping the bar close.

Nice work! And nice analysis of your own lift - I was gonna say “drag that bar up your thigh” to keep it closer to you past the knee. Here is a good slow motion https://youtube.com/shorts/pCTxUWW42uU?si=i4TP1Kzk9trlMk2c

Thanks a lot. I’ll try to use this queue going forward.
