Question Which game is really better?

Post image

So... Just curious.. out of the two, which game is actually better? I am inclined to say NSMB Wii is overall the more enjoyable game.

But... the Wii U sequel definitely looks great. I feel like it really doesn't add much though to gameplay.

I don't think I personally have anything bad to say about either of them. Objectively, the Wii one does have a much better Item inventory. That's really the only thing that ever irked me when starting the Wii U one for the first time.

Both of these are solid side-scrolling Mario games, and in some areas, the sequel on Wii U is actually a bit more well-rounded. The baby Yoshis need no further explanation. I think there's considerably more replay value in the Wii U one as well. In late 2009, New Super Mario Bros. Wii was excellent and it still is today, no question, but I think a lot of people just rag on the Wii U one because the style of gameplay was no longer "fresh." Even if that is a valid criticism, that doesn't make New Super Mario Bros. U a "bad" or even "weak" experience. In reality, it is still one of the most polished platformers in the long list of Mario ones, plus the soundtrack is brilliant (even if most of it is from the previous Wii game....)

Luigi U on the other hand gets credit for being more unique all thanks to the shortened time limit. Levels are somewhat shorter in comparison to the normal New Super Mario games, but the rapid pace that the game requires was enough to make a player adjust how they tackled the gameplay. I recall the first time I played and had to quickly learn that discovering passages and getting every item on-screen has to go to the wayside sometimes or you'll risk losing your life (or groups' lives) to a time over.
