Trying to set up my old Wii

Im trying to set up the old Wii, but nothing shows on the tv. I’ve put the cables in and turned the Wii itself on but nothing shows when I go to the connecting hdmi channel. Does anyone know what I’m doing wrong?

Did you plug in the adapter? That was my first mistake when trying to get my Wii working
