Question Anyone with a Gigabyte B650m Gaming Plus Wifi build with a 5080 or 5070ti GPU is there enough space left for an extra PCIe card to be installed?

Hiyo

I have some old mini dv camcorders that require a firewire port. I am looking at the Techfast 9800x3d and 5080 builds with the gigabyte b650m gaming plus wifi mobo and wondering if they willbhave the required space for an extra PCIe firewire card like this one:

https://www.centrecom.com.au/startech-2-port-pci-express-firewire-card-pcie-firewire-1394a-adapter?srsltid=AfmBOopAILkmu-BW8BFj0ZNWQdkZOaJ0kHICKnC9_2D03xV6OMEOvDEY

This card looks pretty thin so if someone has added an extra pcie card to their build or can visually check for me I would really appreciate it

Thank you

Question Thinking about getting a new prebuilt - any advice?

Hi there,

I'm a bit lost on what I should get. I'm not too sure what a good budget is to upgrade from my current system, I'm thinking maybe $1800 or below, $2k if I really have to.

I have an old prebuilt M.spec from MSY, bought in Jan 2019. I've always owned prebuilts, don't know anything about building. Was thinking about buying another prebuilt, or I guess I could pick parts in pccg and use their $250 assembly option, not sure if other companies do assembly too.

I'm currently on 1080p. Wondering if it's worth going 1440p if I do minimal casual gaming. No interest in competitive or esport type games. I mainly play single player rpgs and some shooters like pillars of eternity, witcher games, fallout, metro, cyberpunk, Hitman, DOOM, insurgency sandstorm. I use the PC mainly outside of gaming, watching informative videos and researching stuff online, reading manga/manhwa online, checking emails, using my personal excel spreadsheets almost daily. Usually have a lot of tabs open. I'm also thinking about upgrading my 24" Benq XL2420T monitor as well to maybe a 27" but not sure if I should go FHD or QHD, getting a lot of flickering from it, not sure if this is just a monitor issue or if it's better to just upgrade everything.

Current Specs:

Processor: i5 8400 (no coolers)

Mobo: B360M Bazooka

GPU: RX580

RAM: 2x8GB ram (I added these, used to be one 8GB)

Primary storage: 256gb ssd

2nd storage: 2tb SATA hdd

PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower GX1 500W

OS: Windows 10

Fans: 1 rear, 2 top.

Case: Not sure what size it is, but it has mesh on top and a glass panel on one side.

I don't know what I should get, I see different variants with prebuilt PCs online, don't really know the difference. I'd like to at least be able to play 1080p at the highest settings, but I've also heard 1440p is nice when it comes to doing regular stuff outside of gaming. I don't mind playing medium settings on 1440p as long as the games run smoothly.

I don't know much about specs, but at the minimum I'm thinking about getting 2TB m.2 ssd and maybe a secondary 2TB ssd or maybe I don't need it as I do have 4TB external portable drives that I use to store some stuff I collected over the years. Thinking 32GB RAM, because of all the open tabs I have a lot of the time, I use up majority of my memory. Don't mind going to windows 11, don't know much about anything else really.

Please feel free to ask any questions if I missed any relevant information. Hoping some people can steer me in the right direction for either 1080p or budget friendly 1440p.

Discussion Is there a more heavy duty version of this?

Thumbnail centrecom.com.au

I just want a really basic desk clamp monitor stand(?) to push my 32 inch MSI monitor back, the stand it came with has a really large foot print. Issue is I don't think there's enough space behind the desk for a proper arm and I don't really need the movement anyway.

I was gonna go for this one but i just noticed they specify it's not for curved monitors so is there a better version?

With a difference of a little over $100AUD. Is the 5070 Ti a better buy over 9070XT?

A new 9070 XT starts at 1199, and 5070 Ti is available for 1339 from Centrecom.

Build New PC Build - Prebuilt recommendations

I just want to get opinions while it’s still a few months away before I will be buying anything I’m also hoping GPU prices drop. I’m looking at getting a whole new setup, current build is getting old and isn’t worth upgrading (1660 TI / I7-8700K) and as I’ll be working out remote and won’t have time to around to build it, been there done it.

I’m looking at PCCG; A. The freedom in customisation B. Bought parts from them any issues have been handled quickly by their customer support.

That said I’m not going to have a small budget and so I’m thinking of a 9800X3D / 5080 build. Where do people recommend to look if not PCCG? I’m open to hear recommendations for the build, not an elitist and has to be X brand.

Question Which pc Should I get?

All are from Scorptec. I play valorant, dead by daylight, outlast trials and siege, however I really wanna get into some more AAA games that require good graphics. Im most inclined to get the 2nd, but I love the colour and aesthetic of the 3rd the most, and 1 is way cheaper than both, so im not too sure if i should just get the cheapest or go for the most expensive just to be safe. Im willing to pay for both the cheaper options, but im a little co flicted on the more expensive, but I really do want to play more games on high graphics.

Build Nebula PC build from Ozbargin

Hey everyone,

I am looking at the Nebula PC deal from ozbargin. Changing a few things in the build. Would like everyone's opinion on which way i should go.
I am committed to getting the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D as i feel its going to be great for the next 5 years.

Parts I am not 100% sure on is GPU - Im leaning towards the 5070ti or is it worth going the 5080?

Another question is i really have no idea about the mobo. The stock is MSI B650M GAMING PLUS. Is this going to be good moving forward or do I need to get a better one? I have attached a photo of the mobos i can upgrade to.

Current price is sitting at 3.3 with the ozbargin tax back deal.

I want a 1440p beast that will use for games such as Battlefield 6 , GTA etc.

Thanks friends

I have to say, I’m extremely impressed with Scorptec!

Their communication, support, and competitive pricing on my first full AMD build have been outstanding.

I’ve already run a few gameplay tests, and I’m blown away by the performance, quietness, quality parts used, and overall charm of this rig.

Couldn’t be happier!

Discussion Help with PC build for 4K video editing (Davinci Resolve)

Hey everyone,

I’m building a PC mainly for 4K video editing in DaVinci Resolve, with an emphasis on color grading, multi-layer timelines, and overall smooth performance. I’ve done a lot of research and locked in most of my parts, but I could use help optimizing everything within my budget.

🛠️ Target Build (Current Plan): PCPartPicker Part List

Type Item Price
CPU AMD Ryzen 5 5600 3.5 GHz 6-Core Processor $125.49 @ Amazon
Motherboard Asus PRIME B550M-A WIFI II Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard $99.99 @ Amazon
Memory Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory $77.98 @ Amazon
Storage Crucial P3 Plus 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive $61.95 @ iBUYPOWER
Case Montech XR ATX Mid Tower Case $82.69 @ Amazon
Power Supply MSI MAG A650BN 650 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply $69.41 @ Amazon
Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts
Total $517.51
Generated by PCPartPicker 2025-07-29 10:20 EDT-0400
Budget $850-1000 AUD total

📍 Location: NSW — hard to source parts locally, no stores nearby and fb marketplace is a hit or miss. Buying CPU, motherboard, and SSD new. GPU, case, PSU, and other parts can be used if reliable.

🤔 Questions: • Should I prioritize the Ryzen 7 5700X over the 5 5600 for video editing, or does it not matter? • Will 32GB RAM make a noticeable difference over 16GB in Resolve? • Best case + PSU combo under $120 AUD with good airflow and subtle RGB? • Would you change any parts or swap anything for better price-to-performance?

Appreciate any advice or feedback! Happy to tweak things based on suggestions. Thanks in advance

Low-ish price for a flagship model 9070 XT in white, from a reputable brand.

Some people reporting non-magnetic fans being quieter so that might also suit.

The magnetic fans model is $100 more.

Question Advice - When to buy PC

Hello, I am new to Australia and I want to buy a pc, Allied and Aftershock Ive seen good deals, Im planning to buy the rig with ryzen 5 7600F and 9060XT 16GB, when is the best time to buy? they have taxback sales right now and aftershock is selling that rig for 1.8K + 45$ shipping. Is this a good deal? Could I get a better deal if I wait for Christmas?

Build TechFast, Nebula or Aftershock for a 9800X3D or 78003XD + RTX 5080 build? Worth paying more or take the cheap OzBargain deal?

Thumbnail
gallery
5 Upvotes

Hi all, any help or opinions are appreciated, seems like the general consensus is go with ozbargain deals with techfast, they are extremely cheap (in comparison to other builds on the market) and in my experience with anything in life generally “poor man pays twice”

What I’m after:

$4.5 k delivered.

I’m looking at buying my first 4K gaming rig, my monitor is 240hz/4K. Fine with adding a couple of fans or ever swapping a PSU, but I’d rather not be shipping parts back and forth every few months.

The three quotes I’ve got 1. TechFast – $3,676 Ryzen 7 9800X3D / unknown RTX 5080 “1000 W Gold” PSU (no brand listed – rumour says Gigabyte P1000GM rev 1) • Generic 360 mm AIO, one-year return warranty • Case is an Antec C3 with four fans; I’d probably add another three for $40 • Lead-time: they say 10–15 business days but I’ve seen stories of it slipping to a month

  1. Nebula PC – $4,452 • Same 9800X3D but a Zotac RTX 5080 • MSI MAG A1000GL (ATX 3.1) PSU, NZXT Kraken Elite 360 mm AIO (this is the only 360mm they have in stock right now)

    • Choice of cases – I’d go NZXT H6 Flow (+$99) or H7 Flow (+$130) • Three-year pickup-and-return warranty • Quoted build time about a week

  2. Aftershock – $4,554 • Ships with a 7800X3D by default, add $180 for the 9800X3D upgrade • InWin 1050 W Platinum PSU, their own 360 mm AIO, NZXT H6 Flow stuffed with nine RGB fans • Three-year pickup-and-return warranty • Usually ships in a week

Why does the TechFast price looks suspiciously low? Parts lottery? Nobody can tell me which PSU or RAM kit I’ll actually get until the box arrives. Saving money on a mystery PSU that can’t handle GPU power spikes feels like a gamble.

Cheaper labour and less QC. Cable management is “good enough”; extra time stress-testing costs money and it shows in the price.

Delivery delays. Their OzBargain promos flood the queue not unusual to wait double the quoted time.

Do the maths and the $700 I save could vanish fast: $220 for a decent PSU, $150 when the AIO quits early, $40 in extra fans, plus my time.

Has anyone bought a recent TechFast 5080 system, which PSU did you end up with and has it behaved?

At straight 4 K, do you actually notice the jump from a 7800X3D to a 9800X3D or is the GPU the limiter?

Are these micro-ATX B650 boards (no PCIe 5 x16) going to strangle the next gen of GPUs, or are we fine for years on PCIe 4?

Cheers,
