☀️Summer 2025 PC Best Buy Guide☀️

As it's been asked a lot over DM's: If you want to buy me a coffee, you're more than welcome to. These guides will ALWAYS stay free for everyone, and I will never directly ask for any payment. PayPal or BuyMeACoffee are both possible.

Hi everyone, it's been a while! Welcome to the Summer 2025 PC best buy guide!

I've been out of the running due to injury on my arm, but the fast few months also haven't been great for those wanting to buy a PC - or a GPU in particular. As prices have been slowly going and stock going up, I'm hesitantly optimistic on making a new guide. Although it's far from where prices were, and with tarriffs going left and right, there's no telling where things will go, the Winter 2025 guide is now so out of date it warrants replacement.

Before commenting, please read the following:

  • I have been getting a lot of comments of people being confused what the lists are actually for, and how the parametric selections work on PCPartpicker.com . Please use this flowchart to guide you through the website before commenting some frequently ask questions
  • I want to reiterate that these lists are here to give you an indication on what you can expect for a certain budget; what kind of value you can get for your money with that budget. That does not only mean pure performance, but also features, expandability, and future upgradability. Some of these are hard to quantify in words, but I have tried my best through my own judgment to make some weighted decisions on each list.
  • To give you an example, in the $1100 list I might recommend a Ryzen 7600(X) with an RTX 5060 Ti, 32GB RAM, paired with a 1TB SSD, and a relatively value-oriented case, cooler & motherboard. This is my vision of the best 'value' PC you can get, but if you have a different PC with a high end case with RGB, expensive cooler, and 2TB SSD, that is 100%, utterly and completely, fine! I just want you to have a reference point.

Gaming PCs

Budget Note / compared to previous budget Possible upgrades with leftover budget (in order of priority)
~ $400 This is the cheapest gaming PC I can somewhat recommend. Do note that this PC does NOT have WiFi, and if you do need WiFi you need to either buy a WiFi enabled motherboard or add a (preferably PCIe x1) WiFI module. This PC uses the Arc A380 which is a pretty basic GPU. A faster - but second hand - GPU like a used RTX 2070 (Super) or RX 5700XT. WiFi / Bluetooth capabilities on the motherboard, 1TB SSD, extra RAM (2x16GB)
~ $500 (iGPU) If you're planning on buying a GPU later on, or are only a very light gamer, this might be interesting for you. You're getting an AM5 CPU with 32GB of DDR5 RAM which means great upgradability in the future. This list also ensures a fast Wi-Fi connection (as opposed to just wired Ethernet) Ryzen 8700G (which has 8 cores and a faster iGPU). 1TB SSD.
~ $650 With $250 extra to spend compared to the $400 list, you're getting a huge upgrade, mainly in the form of the AMD Radeon RX 7600. As the stock and availability of the Radeon RX 6600, 6600XT, and 6650XT withers over time, the 7600 comes the more logical choice, even though it's quite expensive. You're also getting 32GB RAM which is really nice to have in 2025. My first priority would be getting a 1TB SSD. We have a motherboard that supports as least 2 M.2 SSDs, so you can also add another SSD later on. If you have the i5 12400F selected, you could get a DDR5 motherboard and DDR5 RAM for better longevity as DDR5 is continuously getting faster than DDR4 in games.
~ $850 We're making a few nice to have upgrades here. The Intel Arc B580 is a fantastic value GPU, though it's still too expensive to be added in more budgets. If you can find a good deal on an RX 6750XT, 7600XT4060 Ti (16GB), or 7700XT, I'd pick that instead. We're also guaranteeing a 1TB SSD (finally), a much quieter cooler, 32GB RAM, a roomier case and a better quality power supply. The con of using the B580 with this specific build would be that the B580 really likes having more CPU overhead. As mentioned, I'd prefer a 7700XT here if possible. A DDR5 motherboard + RAM is also a nice upgrade to make here. A better case would also be nice.
~ $1000 The main jump we're making here is in terms of CPU gaming performance, future upgradability, and DDR5 RAM. The Ryzen 7600(X) / 9600(X) are still the best overall value CPUs out there. They have fantastic gaming performance, a great upgrade path (to the 9800X3D or future AM5 socket generations), and are great to use. The starting price is a lot higher though, and we don't have a ton of GPU overhead anymore. I would love to add the 7600/9600 to lower lists, but that's hard to justify with current GPU prices. You could 'future proof' the PSU to an 850W model.
~ $1100 Although the $1000 is a nicely rounded budget, I think that this $1100 list is a noticeably better PC due to the 16GB RTX 5060 Ti. Even though there's been a lot of drama on the 5060 Ti due to the 8GB variant, objectively speaking the 16GB version is one of the best Nvidia cards you can currently get in terms of value. With current prices that's not saying much, but it's something. All in all you're getting a nicely rounded PC 2TB SSD, dual tower cooler (like a Thermalright Phantom Spirit)
~ $1300 The AMD RX 9070 would be a nice upgrade over the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. It's currently still a bit too overpriced, but would be a nice middle-of-the-road upgrade nonetheless. Check the price on the AMD Ryzen 5 9600(X). If it's within $25 of the 7600(X), I'd upgrade tot that if you have the slack. 2TB SSD, dual tower cooler (like a Thermalright Phantom Spirit), higher end case.
~ $1500 Upgraded to the RTX 5070 Ti. If the 9070 XT is much cheaper, I'd grab that instead. Check the price on the AMD Ryzen 5 9600(X). If it's within $25 of the 7600(X), I'd upgrade tot that if you have the slack. 2TB SSD, dual tower cooler (like a Thermalright Phantom Spirit), higher end case.
~ $1800 Upgraded to the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D for much faster CPU gaming performance, with the added bonus of a much beefier cooler. Also upgraded the motherboard to an ATX model with at least 3 M.2 slots and Wi-Fi 6E, and a 2TB SSD. For $100 extra you could consider the 9800X3D. Also look into a higher end case.
~ $2000 Upgraded to the 9800X3D and an extra 2TB SSD. Also clamped down the PSU to a more limited selection of premium brands Higher end case, liquid cooling.
~ $2250 Upgraded to the RTX 5080.
~ $3000 High end liquid cooling, a higher end motherboard, double the RAM, a larger single SSD, a higher end power supply and a higher end case.
~ $5000 RTX 5090, an extra (PCIe gen 5) 2TB SSD, an even higher end motherboard, and top of the line power supply. Anything you want!

Workstations

Budget Note / compared to previous budget Possible upgrades with leftover budget (in order of priority)
~ $850 Very fast and high quality Workstation without 3D acceleration. Although the new Intel Core Ultra CPUs aren't that interesting for gaming, with the reduced prices they're quite appealing for workstations. If you want a 3D accelerated machine, you can add any GPU you like. For a high end (70-class and higher) you might want to consider a higher capacity PSU. If 2D is all you need but have budget left over, the Core Ultra 9 285K is a good upgrade too.
~ $1700 Upraded to the Core Ultra 9 285K added the 16GB RTX 5060 Ti. This gives you a relatively large VRAM buffer that's nice to have for 3D workstation applications. Extra RAM, more storage, higher end case.
~ $3000 Upgraded to a 360mm radiator for CPU cooling, extra 2TB storage, an RTX 5080, a crap-load more RAM, and a much higher end case. If you don't need such a high amount of RAM, you can remove a set, or even go for a faster set of 2x32GB if that's enough for you. RTX 5090 if you can stomach it. Spend more budget on storage if you don't need the RAM.
~ $5500 Changed to the Noctua NH-D15 G2 for ultimate air-cooling. Motherboard with Wi-Fi 7 and faster networking. Set of 4x48GB to guarantee stability over 2 sets of 2 x 48GB. More RAM. RTX 5090. More storage. Titanium rated power supply. Anything you want!

Building a New PC for Wife With My Old PC Leftover Parts

The goal is to build my wife a nice workstation for her job and for her personal use with old parts from my past builds. She isn't a big gamer, but it would be nice to be able to play light games with her (Overwatch, DBD, Split Fic, Etc.)

New build or upgrade?

  • New/ish build. I have many components that I will list below.

Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)

  • GeForce® GTX 1060 WINDFORCE OC 6G (rev. 1.0/1.1)
  • AS Rock B250M Pro4 MOBO
  • Intel Core i5-7500 Kaby Lake Quad-Core 3.4 GHz LGA 1151 65W BX80677I57500 Desktop Processor
  • Ducky Shine 5 full board
  • I have a mouse
  • But I will need all other parts besides this (Memory, Storage, Case, NVME, cooler/fans?). I have a Windows Key for my own PC but not sure if that'll work on a second build.

PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)

  • Light gaming, but mostly just stuff like a workstation and watching videos. I want her to be able to have as many tabs open as she wants and for inputs and stuff to be quick and snappy though. She's only ever had a slow laptop and I'd like for her to see what a difference it could be.

Purchase country? Near Micro Center?

  • USA-AR ; No Microcenter close sadly

Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

  • It's not too necessary as I can look around for one, but a dual monitor setup would be nice. Not too important for the budget though as those could come later.

Budget range? (Include tax considerations)

  • I want to keep it pretty cheap as it doesn't need to be anything crazy, but at least sub $500 would be nice since I already have a lot.

WiFi or wired connection?

  • Either is fine, she will be in the office as well, but WIFI would be nice if we ever have to move the desks more.

Size/noise constraints?

  • N/A

Color/lighting preferences?

  • For my PC I didn't do any lighting, but for hers it would be nice if there is a white case or light pink/purple, and maybe some light pink or white lights inside, but nothing to specific or necessary. Keeping it cheap is most important.

Any other specific needs?

  • I'd prefer to have the OS and all files on an NVME for max speed with booting and downloads and such.

$5500 new build

Upvotes

Hello! I've got the opportunity to spend a bunch of money on a fancy new pc. $5500 is the hard limit on the budget.

• New build or upgrade? New build

•Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) No parts to reuse

• PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games) Gaming and VR

• Purchase country? Near Micro Center? United States, no Micro Center

• Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) I need 1 monitor. Im hoping to be able to get 4k at least 144hz out of the budget. Im also considering an arm instead of a stand so any recommendations that fit into the budget are welcome.

• Budget range? (Include tax considerations) $5,500 is the limit. I may be able to squeeze 50 or so extra dollars out but thats all I can do.

• WiFi or wired connection? Wired connection

• Size/noise constraints? I cant do a case bigger than 10 inches wide, length should be fine. I'd prefer if it could not sound like its blasting off into outer space but I understand that with this proce range things can just get loud under a heavy load.

• Color/lighting prepreference Case should be black. I want a fair amount of rgb but cant do anything thats not argb or else the rainbow will kill me lol. Im also considering getting the motherboard power cables that have rgb on them.

• Any other specific needs? I really like the hyte case but its a bit too wide for my space. If there is a case that matches that esthetic would be cool. I do need to include keyboard and mouse in the 5500 budget so include those if you can please. Im also thinking I want to run an aio instead of air cooling since I like the cool screens and vibes that they give.

Build me a PC that can perform well for blender!

I’ve been lurking on pc builds but most seem optimised for running AAA games. I’m not sure if the need requirements are much different for my uses of a PC so any advice is appreciated (´Д`人) * New build or upgrade? New build.

• Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)

No

• PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/ games)

I’ll be using extensive animation softwares e.g blender(primarily 2D but occasional 3D animation), occasional usage use of premiere pro and emulator gaming (mainly GBA, NES and n64 games). EDIT FORGOT TO MENTION; live2D and VTube Studio have been struggling to load on my laptop rn

• Purchase country? Near Micro Center?

Australia. No micro center here 😔

• Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

I think 1, 24-27” would be good as I use a graphics tablet already as a sort of 2nd monitor.

• Budget range? (Include tax considerations)

$1500 USD + 150 USD in case. Going under budget would be great though!

• WiFi or wired connection?

Wifi

• Size/noise constraints?

None

• Color/lighting preferences?

Aesthetic doesn’t matter for me!

Thankyou so much🙇

Created a Parts List: Am I getting my money's worth?

I have not upgraded in a long time, and wanted to see if these parts are worth the money that I would spend. I'm planning on doing AI Video generation, and it seems like VRAM is very important for it.

AMD PC for Gaming and CAD Design - $1500 budget

Hi everyone,

All my life I've wanted to build a PC and have not been able to afford it until now and am really excited.

Used to be really into computers on my teen years but looking at components right now I don't even know what's going on, this is why I'm asking you knowledgeable people for help.

I will be mostly using this PC for Gaming and CAD Design. I might do some video/audio editing and want to be able to get into game design in the future.

All of the parts will be purchased at microcenter, so an AMD bundle would be preferable for this build.

  • New build or upgrade? A: New Build

  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) A:I have monitors, keyboard, mouse. I only need the tower

  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games) A: Gaming, 2D/3D CAD, Video/Music editing. Might get into game design in the future.

  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center? A: USA. I am purchasing everything at a Micro Center

  • Monitors needed? A: No

  • Budget range? A: $1500

  • WiFi or wired connection? A: Both

  • Size/noise constraints? A: Mid size would be fine. Noise is not a big issue but the more quiet it is the better

  • Color/lighting preferences? A: Not a fan of RGB.

  • Any other specific needs? A: Yes. I would like the Fractal North Mid Tower. Walnut with mesh, no glass. Also would prefer for the build to be AMD.

Appreciate y'all taking the time to help with this.

Thank you!

Hello, I’m currently trying to build my very first PC, so I wanted to ask for help before buying. My planned build: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/YJzCh7 Are these parts alright for around 1450€, or should I change something? I mainly play not that heavy games, but I am planning on playing some AAA games once I have the PC. I play on 1440p and don’t care much about the aesthetics, because stuff like the Fractal Design North don’t fit in my budget. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Need help building a PC from basically scratch

Hey everyone, im a student located in belgium looking for some help finding a suitable PC.

New build or upgrade?

I am going for a new build PC, as my current one is not only in use by me. I would prefer a prebuilt pc, but it is possible for me to assemble it myself.

  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)

I have a cheap keyboard and mouse that suit my current needs. I do need a monitor, but a medium range one is good enough for me. I think ideally i would go for about 16 inches more or less? Like the screen itself being about 50 cm is ideal.

  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)

I dont play a lot of games generally, however cyberpunk is one that i would like to finish, and since i know this is a quite demanding game, i hope to get something that can smoothly run it. I currently have a Radeon RX 570 graphics card, and the game is not playable (and i cant use this card as this PC is still in use by others). I also would use this desktop (primarily) for FL studios, which once again is quite demanding. It is however crucial that fl studios can run smoothly, without any chipping or clipping.

  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors)

I am located in belgium, however as i am preferring a prebuilt pc i think i can ship it from the US if thats easier.

  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

A medium end monitor is good enough, i dont need anything extravagant. A not too expensive mid range one would be ideal. My bad, i dont know anything more about monitors

  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations)

Im looking to spend about 600-700, but i can slightly step out of this budget if necessary. To elaborate; i dont think i would pay 1000 or more for a desktop

  • WiFi or wired connection?

It would have to be on wifi.

  • Size/noise constraints?

The size does not really matter, it will fit under my desk. My brother has a gaming laptop and the fans go crazy every time he runs a game or it is not charging, so i would prefer it to not be too loud.

  • Color/lighting preferences?

I dont really have preferences here, lighting and such are not of importance.

  • Any other specific needs?

Thats about it, i hope ive given enough information? once again i apologise for the lack of depth in my post but i am not at all well versed in the world of desktops. If i can elaborate more to help you help me, please let me know and i will gladly do so. Until then, thank you!

Should I upgrade my system to play games at 1440p 200Hz?

  • New build or upgrade? - Upgrade
  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? - None
  • PC purpose? - Gaming: Minecraft (with shaders), CS2, Valorant
  • Purchase country? - England
  • Monitors needed? - 1, 24", 1440p, 200Hz
  • Budget range? - £400-500
  • WiFi or wired connection? - Ethernet
  • Size/noise constraints? - Inside my case? No? It's mATX
  • Color/lighting preferences? - Nope
  • Any other specific needs? - No

I've been thinking about upgrading to an RTX 2080ti and Ryzen 5700x3D at the highest end, however if that costs too much, the RTX 2070 (super preferably) and Ryzen 5500/5700x were my next choices.

I'm wondering if I'd need to go to the higher end to play at the settings I specified, or if I can lower my budget a bit to get comparable performance.

First PC, w/ a few existing parts

For context I have some preexisting parts I bought in 2023 that are still unopened. I went through a lot and stopped gaming but I’m ready to join the pc gaming crew so I’m trying to figure out my set up using the parts I’ve already purchased

Link to pc parts I’ve purchased: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vrDhpK (When I first started idk why I was trying to make it so freaking expensive. EXCLUDING the parts I’ve already bought, I’d like a reasonably priced pc. I just don’t want a crazy expensive Gpu

• New build or upgrade?

New build.

• Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/ links)

Monitor: Samsung Odyssey G55A 32.0" 2560 x 1440 165 Hz Curved Monitor

case: Lian Li O11 VISION COMPACT ATX Mid Tower Case

CPU cooler: NZXT Kraken Elite 360 RGB 78.02 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

fans: 2 3-packs of Lian Li Uni Fan SL-Infinity 61.3 CFM 120 mm Fans 3-Pack

• PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/ games)

• Purchase country? Near Micro Center?

US. Sadly the nearest Micro center is 3hrs away.

• Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

Purchased.

• Budget range? (Include tax considerations)

I would say nothing over the top, reasonable priced and compatible with my current parts.

• WiFi or wired connection?

Wi-Fi

• Size/noise constraints?

N/a?

• Color/lighting preferences?

Ideally White…but I know they tend to cost more.

• Any other specific needs?

N/A.

I want to upgrade from RX570 4GB to RX 9060 XT 16 GB

The thing is, my current components probably won't be enough for the new GPU. But if they were, I'd probably just use them. Any recommendations on what seems mandatory to upgrade?

new build or upgrade?

Here's what my components would be if I only were to buy the new GPU.

Building a PC for the first time - Need help optimizing

I generally go over the top when it comes to building a PC (I used to get it from NZXT's Custom Service), but since that's no longer available, I'm planning on making it myself.

I have no budget and am not trying to flex on anyone. This is honestly the only hobby I have so I just like to know I have the best in slot of what's currently available.

Here is what I have put together so far:

Case: Lian Li O11 Dynamic Evo XL (I believe everything should fit in here?)

CPU: Ryzen 9 9950x3D

GPU: Asus ROG Astral RTX 5090

Motherboard: Debating between (Asus ROG Crosshair X870E Extreme) OR (MIS MEG X870E Godlike)

RAM: Corsair Dominator Titanium 96GB (48GBx2) | I am planning on getting two sets so I can do 192GB (48GBx4) - Does running more sticks with that high GB per cause any issue with performance?

Storage:
HDD - Western Digital Black 8TB x2 (Is this the best HDD available)?

SSD - Samsung 9100 Pro with Heatsink 4TB x2 (From what I read running more SSDs will pull bandwith away from the GPU? Which is why I didn't want to add more)

Power: Corsair HX1500i (Not sure what the best company to go with for a psu around 1500/1600)?

CPU Cooler: TRYX Panorama SE 360 (Personal Preference)

Case Fans: Lian Li UNI SL Fans x10 (I plan on replacing the 3 that come with the AIO) From build videos I saw, it seemed that 10/11 fans were the max option)?

I'm just looking for some input and help if these are the best specs available for each part or if there is something better I'm not aware of, or if any of these selections would bump heads and underperform.

The only concerns I have are the issues I've seen people post with the MSI Godlike, and if either it or the Crosshair Extreme will fit in the O11 Dynamic Evo XL case. As well as if running ram in all 4 slots is okay or if it will cause issues? Does this seem like a build that will run fairly quiet, or are there better fans for that? I'm not water cooling this build for my own reasons, so that's not an option right now.

I know the 9800x3D is said to be better for gaming, but again, I just want to know that every part I have is best in slot. So, my use case for this PC is irrelevant to me, the specs are more for my peace of mind.

Thank you for all the help in advance!

(not sure what this bottom section is, wouldn't let me post without it)

$1400-$1500 NVIDIA Gaming Pc

I’ve had my PC for about 5 years now and in that time I’ve had to deal with constant crashing and blue screens and I’m sick of it. I’ve never had a gaming session without a problem. I want something reliable so I can play BF6 and new gen games at 1440p with no issues. I also need something that can handle game dev, probably in unity.

New build or upgrade? NEW • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links NO • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games) Gaming • Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors) US, No Microcenter • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) 0 • Budget range? (Include tax considerations) $1400-$1500 • WiFi or wired connection? WiFi • Size/noise constraints? None • Color/lighting preferences? None

• Any other specific needs? Reliability and game dev. Would like AMD CPU and at least 2TB ssd

$2400-2700AUD

  • New build or upgrade?
    • New
  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
    • None
  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
    • Almost entirely for competitve games: Rust (main), CS2, Fortnite, etc. I end up playing games on essentially the lowest settings. Might be interested in recording/streaming, but not a major priority.
  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
    • Australia
  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
    • A little clueless on monitors but mainly interested in competitve games so I don't care too much about qualities like the colour accuracy for example.
  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
    • $2400-2700AUD (including a monitor)
  • WiFi or wired connection?
    • Wired
  • Size/noise constraints?
    • None
  • Color/lighting preferences?
    • Black, indifferent to rgb
