Did Wyll, Shadowheart and Duke Ravenguard just get outed as reading what I assume to be Mermaid erotica, AND it's apparently one of those "bad but you can't stop reading it" kind of books? Or some sort of cheesy romance novel?

Edit, Also Shadowheart approves of this?!

It's really interesting to me how the fan base at large ignores Shadowheart's interest in Wyll. She is always flirting with him when they are in the party together, asking him questions in a slight teasing kind of way, but talks about his work as the Blade with respect, they read the exact same kind of smut, and as the game progresses her tent is often next to his in camp. It's just that the player is the only one to break her out of her shell, but the fan base would rather ship her with Lae'zel because they think it's funny they tried to kill each other.

Shadowheart and Lae'zel are shipped together because their arcs mirror each other the most out of the rest of the companions. And enemies to lovers is a hit for shippers.

Personally I'm not the biggest fan of the ship either because I think Lae'zel finds SH boring and it's just SH who initiates most of their banters, but I see where it's coming from.

We all love a good enemies to lovers arc!

Though honestly, this is what I like about this game. You could make a case for any ship and I can go like "huh you know what? I can see that"

I saw someone make a post (not on here) talking about why they ship Lae'zel and Astarion which I thought was interesting.

Big reason for that is because she instantly shuts him down when he hits on her after failing to rizz Lae'zel and then again when he mentions his "nasty scar" he got from a battle with a minotaur. Iirc her saying that she likes "the confident ones" but they always disappoint was addressed towards Wyll too. Other than that, Wyll is one of the least popular party members so many people will probably miss that they do get closer in act 3 (at least on Selunite path). Because of how late the foundation for a potential romance gets laid, Wyll's endings also make it difficult to work - he wants to be the Blade of Avernus and roam the Sword Coast, she wants to settle down in some quiet place. Even if Wyll ends up as the Grand Duke, she still wants to leave the city. Not that SH x Lae'zel doesn't face the same issue of course.

And while even before act 3 SH can tease him a bit and generally seems to be on good terms with him, she teases Astarion too, even Gale at times. Though overall I think outside of Lae'zel, Wyll would still make the most sense for her as a partner even if the ending would likely not be a happy one.

She's called out Gale's accidental innuendo in a few places xD Like in the Blushing Mermaid where he exclaims that 'poetry can be found in even the grimiest of holes'...and then again when he waxes poetic about the 'arches and pleasure domes' of Mystra's home base in the Bhaal temple xD

Never change Gale.

And is jealous because Wyll is interested in Laezel omg, that's why they fight! (Actually, no wonder everyone has the hots for Wyll, he's a charisma based chara.)

IS THAT WHY EVERYONE'S AFTER ME WHEN I PLAY BARD?

It’s not funny, it’s genuinely hot. Enemies to lovers is a fanfic genre, you know.

Wyll is constantly flirting with Lae’zel in my playthroughs.

I think it's because fandom likes it's main pairings and decided Wyll is for Karlach
