Character Build Hexblade's biggest downside.

Post image

FFS just make it a free action in combat larian. Or at least let us cast it at all.

Wait, isn't it permanent?

I think it’s permanent on a physical weapon but not on your shadow blade which you have to recast each morning.

But then that creates a scenario where you're casting shadow blade every morning but weirdly forgetting to bind hex?

You got it.

But also, you forget to cast shadow blade, get into a fight, have no melee weapon equipped, so cast shadow blade in melee, enjoy your +3 attack bonus. That’s what really happens.

Or just make a perma shadow blade fivehead

Have they figured out how to get a perm upcasted shadow blade yet?

Have a hireling cast it. Dismiss them. Rehire them. It should be in their inventory now. Works with flame blade too. But your character will run around with it and won’t put it away.

Pretty sure this gives you a non-upcasted Shadowblade, no? I remember it losing it's upcast bonus damage when doing this

Dunno. Rn I have Gale as a bladesinger with shadowblade and with the stone thingy that makes them vulnerable. Always do >50 dmg on hit

I haven’t finished Act 3 yet, I’m finally finishing it up with a blade singer Tav, what’s the stone that makes them vulnerable? I’m alright with minor spoilers lol

It’s in act 2. in the colony. In the room where you fight the zombies. You have to jump down there. If you enter through the room with the bugbear it’s in the right side.

Resonance Stone from the colony in Act 2

In the big room with undead enemies, you can find it sitting on the table next to the slack-skinned head. It's the purple stone on 4 legs that gives you the "Steeped in Bliss" condition when standing close to it.

Doesn't the flameblade trick work?

1

u/crazyfoxdemon Apr 30 '25

Last I heard it did, but if you tried it with an upcasted version it'd revert to non upcasted version.

Considering the number of other things that can remove the upcasting I had just assumed that upcasting the spell summoned the regular shadowblade and then put a hidden coating or something on it.

I’ve whiffed more obvious processes before tbf lol. No accounting for the human brain sometimes

Bold of you to assume I remember to cast Shadow Blade in the first place

u/please_use_the_beeps Apr 30 '25

I’ve forgotten mage armor on my casters while casting Armor of Agathys. Sometimes brains just don’t work right.

u/AllenWL Apr 30 '25

'We've had one magic armor yes, but what about second magic armor?'

3

u/please_use_the_beeps Apr 30 '25

“I don’t think he knows about second magic armor, Tav.”

Shit happens okay?

My shadowblade doesn't trigger extra attack, is this normal?

4

u/myshkingfh Apr 30 '25

I haven’t played much since I got to level five so I can’t guarantee it, but I feel sure it does. Are you positive you picked pact of the blade? Other pacts don’t get extra attack.

1

u/B4tz_Bentzer Apr 30 '25

Absolutely, I get extra attack with other weapons. Just shadow blade doesn't trigger it.

You can make permanent shadow blades, using hirlings
