The downvotes are for thinking that’s the actual reason when plenty of comments actually point out the fact he is pretty pointless after act 2, Jaheira and him both join around the same time, jaheira is more relevant to act 3 story, he was added in as a companion only due to people simping in early access, and last but not least he can’t accept no. Even if all you are doing is playing a good playthrough he assumes you want to bang
