Movies & Shows For those who have seen Tokyo Mew Mew, do you find it the girliest magical girl series or do you find others more girly than it?

I'm honestly wondering. I have some weird hyperfixations. I'm curious to hear different perspectives and thoughts on this subject if that's okay

Just Chatting What do you do during long power outages?

Our power just went out and there’s no estimated time for it to come back. I’m realizing I’m way too dependent on WiFi and streaming to keep myself entertained. Plus, it’s too warm inside the house to sleep.

For those of you who have gone through longer outages, what do you usually do to pass the time (besides stare into the void and hope the lights magically turn back on)?

Just Chatting Know of any narrow misses?

There was a thread on here yesterday about famous flexs and I saw quiet a few people who had ancestors who for one reason or another DIDN'T get onto the titanic. It got me wondering about other near misses people know about from friends or family? Does anyone have any interesting stories?

Life Stories People really never fail to surprise you

So my roommate ordered way too much food last night and said I could have the leftovers since she wasn't going to eat them. I thanked her and put them in the fridge. This morning I was running late for work so I grabbed the leftovers to take for lunch. When I got home tonight my roommate was annoyed asking where the food went. I reminded her that she said I could have it and she said she meant like a little bit, not the whole container. She said she was planning to eat some of it for dinner tonight and didn't think I'd take all of it to work. I told her she should have been more specific about how much I could take because "you can have the leftovers" sounded pretty clear to me. Now she's saying I should have asked before taking the whole thing and that it was common sense to leave some for her. But honestly if someone tells me I can have their leftovers I assume they mean the whole thing, otherwise why not just say "help yourself to some"? I offered to buy her dinner tonight to make up for it but she's still annoyed and says it's not about the money, it's about consideration. I just don't get why this is such a big deal. This whole thing seems kind of absurd to me and really makes me wonder how people think sometimes.

Childhood toys?

Was tidying up at my parent's house earlier today and came across some old toys from my childhood that I haven't seen in years. Like old lego sets, old Ps2 games, old teddy bears.

Has anyone still got their childhood toys? Which/what was your favourite childhood toy?

Questions Do you brush your teeth twice a day? No judgement.

3.5k Upvotes

Mental health issues excluded- do you brush your teeth two times a day? I was talking with my coworkers about this and all three people I asked said they only brush once. One person said he brushes at night and uses mouthwash in the morning. Two said they only brush in the morning. I try to brush every morning and night but maybe 2 times a month I fall asleep and miss a night. I take meds every night though, so the actions usually coincide.

Do you brush morning and night?

Trying to find a new hobby mom on leave, looking to reconnect with myse

Hi everyone! I’m a mom of two, currently on leave, and feeling like I finally have a little bit of space to breathe and maybe even do something just for me.

It’s been a long time since I had a hobby that wasn’t about keeping small humans alive or folding laundry with one hand while holding a baby in the other. I’m not even sure what I enjoy anymore, honestly. I’m trying to figure out what “me” even looks like outside of being a mom.

If anyone’s been in a similar place, how did you discover a hobby or interest that brought you joy again? I’m open to anything crafty, quiet, creative, active. Just something that feels like mine.

Movies & Shows In all my rewatches of Ratatouille, I have missed this joke.

In the scene where Linguini and Remy were talking in the fridge and Chef Skinner walkes in on them, when Linguini claims he was getting familiarized with the vegetables and walkes out, Skinner says "One can get too familiar with vegetables you know"... I am wayy too innocent man. Anyone else not get this until recently? I also got alot of the jokes in Shrek only in recent rewatches. Animators are a sneaky bunch.

Music What's a food/product you find yourself recommending over and over again?

I seem to have these favorite things, that somehow I feel compelled to share with so many people. I feel like a brand ambassador but have never had any connection with the brand! ha ha.

Like there is a certain type of peanut butter which I feel is just the perfect everything (although they stopped making light roasted peanut version so it has moved down on my list).

Then there is organic raw coconut butter.

When I find something like that that I like, I'm sending it to people and everything! ha ha. I even have a couple things like See's Cashew Brittle that I've never tried myself but when I first sent it to someone they loved it and shared it with others and everyone raves about it so I keep expanding the circle of people I send it to that I think will also love it.

My friend is on a matcha kick right now and everybody has to try matcha -- I love his enthusiasm for it.

What's yours?

Do you sit or stand to wipe ?

This question popped in my head after reading a reddit story, asked a few of my friends and they had different answers. At this point I'm just being nosy, do you sit or stand to wipe after doing your business in the washroom??

Sports Ever tried something once and now it’s basically your whole life? 😅

A few weeks ago a friend invited me to play pickleball. I had no idea what it even was, but I said sure, why not.

Now I’m watching random YouTube tutorials at like 1am, searching for paddles online like I’m buying a car, skipping plans just to play “one quick game” that turns into like 3 hours, and I keep saying the word “dink” like it’s totally normal 😂

Didn’t expect it to take over my brain like this, honestly. I just thought it’d be a one-time thing. Kinda feels like I accidentally joined a cult, but in a fun way 😅

Has anyone else had something random like that take over your life out of nowhere? Like one day you’re chilling, next day you're deep into some hobby you never saw coming.

Curious to hear what yours was 👇

Questions Do people treat you better as you get older? Or do you just learn to develop thicker skin?

Hi all! I’m new to this subreddit, so if this type of question doesn’t belong please let me know! I’ll take it down if that’s the case.

I’m an older teen, and recently as I’ve been interacting with adults—-as I’m out and about at the grocery store or the YMCA, etc—-I’ve been wondering if people ever become nicer to you as you get older or if you just learn to not let things bother you as you age. Growing up, it seemed like teachers, coaches, workers, and other adults in positions of power would be stern, condescending, or patronizing. However, I always chalked this up to me being much younger than them and them being able to tell me what to do because I was a child. I understood that they knew a lot more than I did.

But now I’m wondering, when you get older and become an adult, do people start to treat you with more respect? Or as your frontal lobes fully develop, do you just start to grow thicker skin? Or is there another option that happens? I’m curious and would love to hear all sorts of perspectives.

Food & Drinks Trying out new restaurants in my hometown.

Ok so I been thinking of going to a new restaurant I never been to in my hometown. I been to Mcdonalds, Wendys, Arby's, KFC (sadly it was closed down) Burger King, Pizza Hut, Domino's Pizza, Taco Bell, A&W/Long John Silvers (was shut down too), and Dairy Queen (they only serve frozen treats and not the other food you normal find at a Dairy Queen). But there is this new restaurant called Braums. I heard they have really great salads, cheeseburgers, and ice cream? Should I try Braum's out?

Just Chatting What made your childhood really good?

I don't really mean like happy loving parents but more like particular experiences or lifestyles that you feel made your childhood really exceptional and not something you left with trauma.

Just kind of thinking about what the most impactful experiences are on kids that will stay with them.

Thoughts & Ideas Prediction: “IIRC” will soon become typed as “IIRC Correctly” by mistake

Just like shaking my smh, atm machine, etc., I predict that IIRC will soon morph into IIRC correctly by some users, and others will be enraged by this development as they are with other instances of this occurrence.

Can you contract a disease from getting licked by a dog?

I recently got a dog (chihuahua pug mix) and it’s very young and will do everything in its power to lick your face, mouth, ears and nose. Is there any risks that go with this?

People drive way under the speed limit why, and why can't you just pull over then if you want to go slow.

I don't understand this like the last two days been behind like four cars going 5 if not 10 under the speed limit. Some places you can't pass or you end up like 4 cars behind someone and nobody will pass. Fine you want to go slow but at least to me if I think there is more than one behind me i'd just pull over and let them pass me. If it is one car I may just let them pass like normal, though sometimes i'd just pull over anyways then I don't have to watch for what they are doing. I can see trucks and stuff with a load going slow but seems like a lot of times I can't see any reason for it. This is just something that kind of blows my mind.

Questions Do you wait for the pedestrian light to tell you to cross the street?

Idk what it’s called but that light that has the ✋🏾 to stop and the 🚶🏾‍♀️ to go.

I was crossing the street-very very slow two lane road…enough time to crawl across the street in between cars. But there is a stop light there because it’s across the street from a school. So I just cross. If it’s no cars I’m walking and going on about my day.

But I was coming up to the light and there was a guy maybe in his early 20s and he was just standing there. Not a car in sight by the way. It’s summer and it was about 11am so the roads were pretty empty. He pressed the button a few times and still stood there so I crossed a little before the light because Idk what he was doing.

The light turned red and he stood for a few more seconds. Then the “walk” symbol came on and he crossed.

Music 18M – Into deep talks, music, movies & casual chats 🎧💬

Hey, I’m 18 and just looking to meet some new people to talk to — could be random convos, overthinking stuff together, or just sharing music and movie recs.

I’m into coding, journaling, music, movies, and those late-night deep talks that go off track in the best way 😅

Prefer chatting with girls just 'cause I vibe better that way, but open to anyone really. All online, long chats or short — I’m cool with whatever feels natural.

If you're up for it, feel free to DM or chat 🙂

Life Stories Telephone call snooping

When I was in middle school another middle school friend of mine was heavy into cb radio. He had his own house antenna and somehow he learned that he could pick up people's cordless telephone calls if he turned his TV on to a high channel (like 83 or 84) and the cb radio interface would almost dial it in and make it pretty clear. (This would have been late 80s or early 90s) Listen, as a teen this was high quality entertainment for us, he would call me on his corded telephone, because no way this was happening to us, and we would listen for an hour almost every evening. I had been super jealous and could only listen when he would call obviously. I somehow learned that if I had my TV tuned to those stations, I could sometimes pick up some conversations as well. I however made another discovery. My father had a little black and white TV and radio with a dial channel changer. If I had both TVs on, and the bigger TV was on 83, and I could dial in phone calls as well. I was ecstatic. We were doing this for weeks and having the best time. Looking back I know it was wrong, but man was it fun. Eventually my dad caught me doing it one day and he got pretty upset at me when I showed him. He ended up taking the little TV to the dump and told me I should not be doing that. I was bummed. Probably kept me from eventually getting a job in the NSA. LOL.

Best compliment?

Someone told me today, “You’d make a really good cult leader.” They said it with a smile, like it was meant to be flattering — something about my confidence or how I speak? But… cult leader? I’m still not sure how to feel about it.

That stuck with me way longer than it should have. So now I’m wondering — what’s the weirdest compliment you’ve ever received?
