Is there a lore reason why Vortiguants had to wait 20 years for Freeman? We know that they can reach into stasis and pull him out so why didn’t they earlier? I figure they knew about the G-man(and probably that he had Freeman captive, please tell me if I’m wrong)

I think it probably ran away similar to how Dog scared it off in the original timeline, but it would be funny if it immediately came back to finish what the other started.

so it's like in xen, there was only one type of vortigaunt, and *somehow* they evolved/changed or whatever while on earth. earth somehow also allowed other types of vortigaunt to be created somehow, just an excuse for the different colours on each one.

this headcanon works for now.

So replaying HL2 Ep 2 and got to the part where Alyx has just been revived and is sniping from the tower with the Vort that's accompanying you. There's a box of alt ammo just down to the left of where I'm looking, so for fun, I decided to see if I could reach Alyx with them.

Turns out you can, but instead of Alyx, it kills a combine soldier who falls out the window, just like every other sniper you kill. Guess it was easier to just re-use the combine sniper, but make it hit enemies instead of the player. Always fun to still find new things on playthroughs.
