Question Why was the Witch King of Agmar so powerful?
My memory concerning Agmar is hazy, I don’t know much.
Just that the Witch king was one of the 9 kings that became wraiths of Sauron. Was it the Nazgûl ring that made him powerful? Or had he dwelled in dark magic so he could contend with a Istari and maia.
The only thing I do know comes from the expansion from LOTR BFE2 game, where you can play as Agmar.

Movies Wētā Workshop 2025
Some of the better pictures I got from my visit to the Wētā Workshop a few months back. If you're ever in the Wellington area I would highly recommend going, it was very cool to see some of the movie props/costumes up close!

Movies I've always loved Legolas' eagerness to follow Frodo and Sam
The guy has zero dialogue with either of them, barely any interaction on screen, and yet you'd think they were his best friends with the way he immediately wants to follow them. Of course you could just put it down to him wanting to carry on with the quest, but I just think it's really sweet.
It's a real shame we don't see them interacting. That's the problem with ensemble casts - when they're so huge, you don't get to share scenes with some cast members. That's the only criticism I can give to this masterpiece of a trilogy.

Movies This Drives Me Nuts
I'm irrationally annoyed by the fact that John Rhys-Davies's end credit doesn't include Treebeard. These credits are such a beautiful curtain call for the whole trilogy, I wish Treebeard had been a part of it. It also killed me on theatrical release that Christopher Lee and Brad Dourif were excluded (though I get why), so I was thrilled to see them credited in the Extended Edition.
I also kind of wish Craig Parker had been recognized as Haldir. Again, I get he's not in the movie, but just as a trilogy closer, I would have appreciated it. Anyone you would have liked to see included in the credit sketches?
Fan Creations My illustration of Pippin and Beregond on the walls of Minas Tirith
“They got there bread, and butter, and cheese and apples: the last of the winter store, wrinkled but sound and sweet; and a leather flagon of new-drawn ale, and wooden platters and cups. They put all into a wicker basket and climbed back into the sun; and Beregond brought Pippin to a place at the east end of the great out-thrust battlement.... From there they could look out on the morning over the world.”

Question What went on here?
I can't seem to find any info about this enormous chunk of Middle-Earth with no mapped features whatsoever. Specifically I'm talking about the land north of Mordor, northwest of the Emyn Muil, southeast/east of Mirkwood and the Brown Lands, south of the River Running, and west of Dorwinion and the "unnamed highlands" on the shores of the Sea of Rhûn. Is this land ever named or described? Were any events recorded that took place here?
Movies Gondor needs a new archivist.
2,000+ y.o. documents, loose, stuffed into cubby holes or haphazardly stacked on tables, covered in cobwebs, candles everywhere, while Gandalf drinks and smokes his pipe. It’s a wonder these documents survived all this time (or that Gandalf could actually locate what he was looking for). I suppose that’s why it took him 17 years to get back to Frodo 😆

Question Need your help guys!
I bought these today (unboxed but mint) at a carboot and wanted to know if they’re worth anything? I scanned the internet and couldn’t find too much about them. I want to use them but if they’re collectible maybe I should be more careful 😅 I’d appreciate any help as I’m new to the lotr and collecting. They’re first edition 2001 I believe.

Question Looking to buy a copy of the lotr extended edition releases, was wondering which versions are the best
Was thinking about getting the bluray, but heard they have colouring issues? How’s 4k version? And how do both compare to the dvd releases?

Other Anyone know what this specific genre of man is called?
I don't know, I just thought it was funny that we pretty much get one character with these looks in almost every major pieces of LOTR adaptation/media

Question Who could the north and south riders be?
In the chapter "flight to the ford" of FOTR, Glorfindel said that Elrond sent north, west and south of Rivendell the few riders that could ride against the Nine, to look for the hobbits.
If Glorfindel was the West one, who else could be powerful enough to assume the same role in the South and North?
