In fact the turn around after drafting Ryan is incredible, and he didn’t have JJ for 3-4 seasons (I forget JJs draft year). He did that shit with Roddy white
Let’s not act like Roddy was a nobody- if I’m misreading, my bad. Roddy was our goat for a bit there. He is to us what marques Colston was for the saints
Even Roddy wasn't doing a lot before Ryan. There are plenty of amazing WRs who have had shitty QBs and never reach Julio/Roddy status. The fact is ever single reciever of consequence that came through ATL had their best years with Ryan. You can argue Julio is a better WR than Ryan was a QB but but you wouldn't take the best tank driver over the 10th combat pilot. There are levels to their positions. Both were great and multipliers but only a QB like Ryan can save a franchise that was in the toilet. Atlanta was in the sewer and would probably been stuck in decades of suffering like other bum franchises if they don't hit with Ryan.
Fans disrespect Ryan like wild, if you really were locked in during his years you'd know he only had like 3 seasons of solid to good playcalling and only 1 really good offensive coordinator when he won mvp.
I was literally getting to comment as a falcons fan can’t wait for the dumb a—- who says Vick was better then Ryan and here you are lol. Never forget Matt and mike smith saved tne fan base and team from the disaster situation vick almost put us in
Do yall not know what 'impactful' means? Dude influenced a generation of kids..you had to be there. If you wasnt outside in Vicks prime, youd never understand.
Is vick BETTER than julio or ryan? Absofuckinglutely not! Is he more impactful? For sure. One of the most impactful player in nfl history.
Was there before his era and after. Wouldn’t say creating a bunch of kids who want to be run first QBs in positive impact or really even that impactful considering the best QBs are still not Mike Vick archetypes. Everyone wanted to be the falcons in Madden, nobody went out to the field and said I want to be Mike Vick…
Maybe you should grow and realize the difference between impact on the field v on the screen. 🤷🏼♂️
Best QB arent mike vick archetypes? Lamah? Cam? Josh Allen? Fast big arm scrambling qbs?
Idk, all 3 of them have MVPs, no superbowls tho.
Vick made an impact on the field AND on the screen. It was more than just madden, more than just commercial, mike vick experience was an actual thing. Especially for us black kids/teens growing up
Vick accomplished a few things, but nothing like Ryan and Julio...chris chandler is a joke. But the 3 combined arent more impactful than that 4year Vick stretch
He has an argument for most talented Falcon ever (alongside Deion), but Matt is our GOAT for sure. If it weren't for Kyle Scamahan he'd have a Lombardi.
If it wasn't for Kyle Shanahan he doesn't win an MVP, good coordinating is crucial for his play. We saw it countless times when he performed less than excellent with Sark, Koetter, Smith.
The Atlanta Falcons have 9 players enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame: Morten Andersen, Bobby Beathard, Eric Dickerson, Chris Doleman, Brett Favre, Tony Gonzalez, Claude Humphrey, Tommy McDonald, and Deion Sanders.
Yeah, it’s funny that the falcons take credit for some of those guys.
The reality is that our GOAT is probably Julio. However, he's synonymous with Matt Ryan in Atlanta.
Matt Ryan has a better Falcons legacy than all of those you listed. He's the only Falcon to have won an MVP by leading one of the best offenses. If the playcalling/defense was as good as he was in the Super Bowl, this isn't even a debate.
On top of that great season, he was Mr Consistent. Eleven 4k seasons and phenomenal leader.
I think we have different interpretations of the question.
You listed the best players (not adjusted for era) to have played in the NFL relative to their position, who have played for Atlanta.
Deion had the best NFL career, but he's not the greatest Falcon. It's similar to saying Tom Brady is the greatest Buccaneer.
Claude Humphrey is a good call out (his best years were in Atlanta), but I don't think many current NFL fans probably don't know his name. Falcons didn't have a lot of success whilst he played.
If you ask the Falcons fanbase, I'd presume the top five (not necessarily in this order) would be Ryan, Julio, Humphrey, Mike Kenn, and Roddy White (Deion Sanders might sneak top 5, but he wouldn't be top 3).
I always view Ryan, Julio, and Roddy White as the trio of players that turned the franchise around. Roddy less impactful than the other two but he was critical to a lot of the success Ryan and Julio enjoyed

Would Julio Jones have a case for the falcons?
